Democrats want another trillion in revenue in next cliff deal
« on: January 07, 2013, 11:20:48 AM »
No surprise, since most of us understood that the thirst for “more revenue” was akin to Tim Allen’s “more power” in his Home Improvement series … and about as effectual at solving problems, too.  The Hill’s Alexander Bolton rounds up comments from House and Senate Democrats on their goals in the upcoming fiscal-cliff fights, and finds them stressing “balance” between tax hikes and spending cuts.  Of course, the tax hikes of last week aren’t included in the equation:

Quote
Democrats say they want to raise as much as $1 trillion in new revenues through tax reform later this year to balance Republican demands to slash mandatory spending.

Democratic leaders have had little time to craft a new position for their party since passing a tax deal Tuesday that will raise $620 billion in revenue over the next ten years.

The emerging consensus, however, is that the next installment of deficit reduction should reach $2 trillion and about half of it should come from higher taxes.

This follows the White House talking points in advance of the next round of negotiations:

Quote
The White House also supports a 1:1 ratio of spending cuts to tax increases as Congress seeks to finish the fiscal work left unresolved by the recently completed 112th Congress.

White House officials point to last week’s fiscal-cliff agreement to “buy down” the sequester for two months. The deal delayed the implementation of automatic across-the-board spending cuts to domestic and defense programs and paid for it with $12 billion in revenues and $12 billion in spending cuts — evenly divided between defense and non-defense spending.

Administration officials view that as a template for future deficit-reduction agreements.

The jackwagons need to address the friggin' baseline and call it what it is -- an automatic rise in spending that is, and has been, out of ****ing control.

Did you guys catch the part where the democrats want cuts made back in2011 to count as cuts made in what ever deal they come up with now?

The whole damned thing is manipulated to the point that NOBODY knows what the hell is going on, least of all Boehner's Repubs. Those guys are still looking for their asses that they lost back in November.

Yeah, that's about right, and that's the way it is going to be for at least the next 4 years.

For whatever its worth I think it's going to be like this for much longer then that.

It doesn't matter...Boehner's repubs...or the latest GOP savior Ted Cruz it simply does not matter, the narrative will not be carried by conservatives. The narrative will be carried by the folkes that my parents watch when they watch the news and that ain't PJ Media, Hot Air, Ace, Fox news, Breitbart or anything like that.

It will be abc, nbc and cbs. This is a nation of low information voters because they don't know that they are low information voters. They like it like that way and the media are just too happy to oblige.

So, that's where things stand.

I wish I were wrong and if I am then tell me I'm wrong and explain why I am wrong.

Of course they do: money left in your wallet is freedom they haven't confiscated yet.

I almost pity them, when the push back comes.  Almost.

Oh, BTW, I forgot to mention I fully expect that the GOP is going to lose every single fiscal battle they intend to fight over the next year.

And probably longer then that.

"Who said they intend to fight a damned thing?  They MIGHT do enough to convince the low information Republicans that they're "standing up to the Dhimmi'Rats" come the 2014 elections, but c'mon; this is "Bend-over Boehner" we're talking about here.  :whatever:

the latest GOP savior Ted Cruz

Unfortunately, he's pissing off a lot of people inside the Beltway, including among the GOP.

And you know what?  Eff 'em.  It's about time someone kicked over their little ant hills and reminded those assholes they work for US, not the other way around.
