UGP Discharged
« on: January 06, 2013, 11:09:10 PM »
It's a great time at the DUmp!

TiT got out of the slammer, Pam got out of the morgue, and now UGP is out of the padded room.

I wonder if this is a contributor to violence in this country...
There are places that house people with mental illness... since section 8 is near impossible to get nowadays... It's religious based housing that forces mentally ill people in their care off their meds because they think jesus will heal them. This kind of thing isn't an anomaly. Some of these facilities are run by churches indirectly as money makers and religion pushing. Some take in minors and force them off medications doctors order for them. It's all done "cold turkey" Often including pain meds.

This crap is going on under the radar all over this country. Thanks to Bush-hole letting the ****ing asshole churches "help"the mentally ill. There was a place near me that got shut down.

How does someone get released to a half-way house if that house isn't registered with the state?

Okay a couple things. If she or it is referencing the recent shootings, not one of those individuals was in the care of any facility(religious or otherwise). As for what she is referencing: there is a difference between treatment for your mental illness and treatment for your shitty attitude. Religious people are right that the second is not cured by meds but by outlook. In a Christian's mind outlook generally changes and is more positive in a saved individual not to mention some people likely as part of ministry wish to bring gods gift to those with mental illness; many of whom, as we see at the dump Are overwhelmed by secular doctors with their various diagnosis and such. Since UGP usually speaks without listening or delving in further I am not surprised she can't make the distinction between the two.

I know a lot of Christians believe that only God can heal the mind and refuse psychiatric drugs.  I have never heard of anyone forcing another person off of their meds though.  I fully believe that God let man discover ways to heal a person and we are supposed to use them.  Sitting around being a nutjob doesn't help anyone.

Followed by a backal lobotomy.  :-)

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

4. I read all three articles you linked.

Not one said anything about being a Christian, or any other religion-based facility. Not one said anything about taking meds away. All three seemed to be saying that the state or local governments involved had failed. The third, the NJ one, was the worst. The state was placing people in this half-way house to free up prison beds, which they could then rent out to the federal government, and make some $$$.

The owner of the house in the first article admitted that he was just renting out rooms, and made no pretense to be running a program of any kind.

It'd be great.

But, doing that relieves them of any responsibilities.  And, in the end, that's what they want--to be cared for by someone else.  Even if that 'someone else' happens to be a bunch of orderlies in a 'secure' facility, with rubber padding all over the walls.
