I don't mind people having pistols and hunting rifles in my neighborhood. But if one of these assault weapon weirdos lived in my neighborhood, I would feel a lot less safe. And I would also be angry as hell.

Their kind is simply not needed. I don't want my property values dropping because I have some half-wack numbskull in my neighborhood who "wants" an AR-15. I would be petitioning my property owner's association to get the guy's gun banned in the bylaws.

I feel sorry for people who have to live near these types, and especially sorry for their friends and family. These types think they set themselves apart in some way by having a special weapon. I mean, it's so impressive that they know about muzzle velocities and ammo calibers. My goodness, they even know the names of the parts of the gun!

I think the good news is that most reasonable folks are starting to get the proper perspective on the assault weapons weirdos in their midst. It won't be long before AR-15-type owners will have to leave that phase of their life behind or find themselves shunned and unemployable.

I don't care what my neighbor has in house for defense. I have no plans to break into his house so I have nothing to worry about.

However if he happens to be a DUmmy I hope he has nothing sharper than the bottom of a crayon in his house.

I didn't realize that some of these gun weirdos obsess about their guns to the point that they even know what type of ammunition to put in them.

You're uncomfortable with your neighbor owning an AR-15, I'm uncomfortable with my neighbor dressing up in little girl clothes and prancing around town.  Each to their own, I guess.

As a side note, that is the reason I fled back to the boondocks as soon as possible, don't see many of the second type of neighbor out here.

It doesn't matter what my neighbor owns. If they are law abiding people and not crazy like most liberals then there is no reason to get all bent out shape over it.

I'm eminently comfortable with that every time someone comes out here, they've got a firearm of one sort or another handy.  They know how to use them, and I don't, and they're not planning on using them on me.

Newsflash--none of my business, and none of yours.  However, I will say that my coworkers and I have traded much good information regarding useful types of weapons, good deals, who's selling what, and I'm going to hazard a guess and say that probably half of the guys in my shop have "evil assault rifles"...and we require background checks to work where we do rivaling any FFL.

Good grief, next thing I know they will come for our work box cutters.  Nasty little things, 3 airplanes were taken down with those every day work items.

Neighbor has a pit bull, and the neighbor next to her is a retired Sherriff.  I would think everyone in my neighborhood is armed to the teeth, Could be the reason we have not had one break in 18 years.

But the odds are sooner or later we will be hit, some one of us, and time will tell if we are unhappy with a neighbor defending us even with a sling shot.

In this countyry , we have the right to bear arms. If my neighbor had a high powered rifle, I would assume, he is either former SWAT, Navy SEALS, military or police. Or, he could be a gun collector. As long as he is responsible, with it, he can have whatever he wants...

My husband owns a gun, I have never handled one.    He keeps it locked in a gun safe.   I have no desire to learn how to shoot one, and if I lived alone I would most likely not have one.   That said...

Why does owning guns only relate to safety?    I can't understand the whole they don't "need" that argument.   If you are a collector, why can't you own it?  because someone doesn't have a comfort level with you owning it?

I also don't understand the entire you don't know how you will react in a life/death situation argument also.   I do know that if someone was going to inflict harm on my children, I will use whatever means necessary to stop that.

I am not a baby.   People don't generally intimidate me.  I am not fleeing if someone is going after my children.   Who would do that?   

The arguments I am reading make no sense to me.
