New Years Eve
« on: December 30, 2012, 05:01:49 PM »
Any special plans for New Years Eve?

My wife and I are going to our favorite Italian restaurant at 6:00 PM for their special meals (reservations only), then home to stay home and let the idiots kill each other on the highways, and the cops to set up their roadblocks.

The restaurant (Scrementi's) is only about 3 miles from here.

We'll be going to Steak & Shake which is what my wife wants for our anniversary dinner, then midnight open a bottle of Champagne and toast the New Year.

I'm sick with the flu so ill be sleeping as much as i can. Since my ex can't possibly watch his own children in a situation like this (let's hope I never land in the hospital eh. He's apparently got no backup plan eve though this is where he is from)The kids will be right here with me and hopefully won't get it too. Oh well. Sorry to be irritated in the middle of all the fun plans. Just had to vent.

No plans here.  New Years Eve just isn't one of those occasions I celebrate. :p

Scoobie and the kids will be home.  I got called in to work.

Yeah, it was last-minute, and it sucks, but it IS 12 hours of OT.  Just in time to fill up the oil tank.

I remember starting a job and the holidays coming up, I asked if I, being low on the totem pole, would be required to work. They looked at me like I had two heads........NO was the reply, the most senior would get that assignment that pays DOUBLE TIME and A HALF.   :lmao:

Gonna  prep the standing rib roast for New Years day, settle in with another bottle of Galliano, and watch some more football. No gun fire since the pups get scared shitless at the sound.

But I'll be watching FOX's New Years Eve coverage.

Just got back from vacation.  Working tomorrow, and picking up my buddy from the vet.  Probably will overdo feeding treats to my dog, and just hang out.  If I make it to midnight, that will be a miracle!

I think we have New Year's Day off from work, but I'm not sure.  That means I work Monday, off the next day, and work the rest of the week.

Works for me.  I need an extra day off after this horrible week.

Tomorrow is Mrs E's birthday, so there's that little bit of business to attend to.  :-)

Lexie, our alpha female mutt, appears to have some sort of respiratory ailment. Could be a cold. Or kennel cough (even though she's inoculated). Will get her checked out tomorrow, if the local vet isn't booked up.

There will be cake, right?

Sounds like a righteous way to spend NYE... a nice dinner with drinks followed by birthday cake and gifts.

Get well soon, jtyangel!

Youngest and I have been working on some tunes (guitar and banjo - mostly gospel).  We're going to hang out and practice them.  We play at a bar/cafe.  Yeah, kind of weird, but that's how it goes here.

New Year's Day I'm working and we're going to have what my family affectionately calls "those damn little birds."  Cornish game hens glazed in Plum Sauce.  We're inviting some kids from an eastern state who seem to be in a state of culture shock having been moved here to experience... I dunno know... a fresh start?  lots of cow manure?  stringing barbed wire in single digit temps?  To learn to drive ancient tractors?  Oi.  I'm enjoying them, though.  They appreciate hot cocoa and homemade food, so it's a good match.

She really isn't that big on cake and we're not big party animals, so it's generally pretty quiet around here. Well, that is, until the fireworks go off.  :-)

Going to my wife's uncles place. It's a great cabin style house with a fantastic man cave, including a pool table. I'll be taking names.........

Heh... I'm also sick. Hoping I won't be tomorrow, but I'm pukey tonight. Many dry heaves, but I did lose some supper earlier. My mother has what I have too. I'm sure my work will be pissed if I have to call off tomorrow, but it's a distinct possibility. Sleeping is my main plan too if I can't make tomorrow night. Otherwise work. Sickness, go away!!

You get well soon, too, angel.

The rest of you, have a great night tomorrow night.

Hard to celebrate a new year of higher taxes and more socialism.  O-)

I will be working New Years Eve and New Year's Day.

I've had a couple invitations. Most likely I will just stay home. My church has an event, but other churches have now teamed up and they had to change the location. It will not start until 10 PM and will last for a few hours. I just don't see it working out when I need to be at work at 7 AM on New Years Day.

I have to work 8pm-4am.

I'm thrilled.

NOT.  :censored:

Working, but it's even more time and a half on my next paycheck, so I'm not going to complain.

And since I work in an ER, I'm sure it'll be a busy night.
