Is it illegal to eat them? I may need to know this at some point.

They used to call cats roof rabbits in Central Europe's hard times during and between World War I and World War II. I don't think I could bring myself to kill and eat a cat no matter how hungry I was. I could eat a pigeon though. I'm not fond of them.

Pigeons are better in Rome.

Could be good.
Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

Hard to believe as obama is the foodstamp President.

If you're dumb enough to pay two grand a month in rent to live in NYC, I got no sympathy for you.

Cleita had some "helpful" advice.

Newsflash--two grand a month won't even pay the maintenance fees on most places in Manhattan.

Oh, and pigeon?  There's another word for those--SQUAB.  Look it up, DUmmies.  Most "fancy" places in NYC charge a nice chunk of change for it...think $40 for some squab tortellini at Le Cirque.

Then again, I'm kind of doubting the ones used for food there feed on garbage, but whateva.

If I couldn't afford food, legality likely would not interfere with me eating a pigeon  :whistling:

We used to catch wild pigeons and then raise them .  They were the country type pigeons not the city slicker type, though.

I'd suggest that one can eat just about anything, primitive. How healthy or legal it may or may not be are different questions.

I've eaten plenty of tree rats in my day. Served up with some homemade dumplings.

57. please it is ILLEGAL to kill, cook, & eat the pigeons w.out a license in some USA cities

example, in san francisco, you could be charged w. animal cruelty

i strongly suggest you call a wildlife officer and ask what the local law is, of course feral pigeon is not protected as a native bird (it isn't a native bird) but nor is a cat a native mammal, yet if you catch, cook, and eat a feral cat, you can be charged w. animal cruelty in some areas...absolutely no different w. the pigeons...these are both descendents of animals that have a long history of companionship and service to humans -- how many cats have been awarded medals for honorable service in war? you may prefer cats to pigeons but the pigeon fanciers think otherwise and they do have tradition on their side...

However, it is an honor for your cat to be eaten by a hawk.

From what I can tell with city pigeons you wouldn't need a slingshot, just lure them in with some scrap bread and BAM! I would have thought a city dweller, not to mention a member of the intelligentsia might have figured that own its own.

I think it might be more interesting to see if the primitive can figure out how to prepare it. Maybe it could start a thread on whatever passes for a cooking forum to get that straightened out.
