SEMINOLE, Fla. - As a pawn shop owner, Frank James was always a big believer in gun rights and the second amendment. After all, it was his bread and butter business.

But after what he saw in Newtown, Connecticut on Friday, he's had a change of heart. "I basically broke into tears and looked up on the wall, seeing the types of firearms I am selling," James said.

At the Loan Star Pawn store in Seminole, a glass display case that once housed several Bushmaster AR-15 assault rifles is now empty. The glass counters normally filled with handguns has been completely cleared.

"I'm not going to be part of it anymore," James said. He has several copies of the exact rifle suspected in the massacre.

I'm not buying that a big believer in gun rights would all of a sudden be anti gun because of one horrible incident. I'm also not buying that he would give up his "bread and butter" as it is called in the article.

On the plus side it's nice to see him take a stand on selling firearms if he feels that strongly.

Strange I have to go back and reread the original reports on the school shootings.   For some reason I thought the big guns were left in the trunk of the car and the murder spree was done with hand guns. 

I keep reading that the murders were committed with the big guns, the Uzis and what ever.  I guess I got this all wrong.

I know a guy in Florida who owns an incense and unicorn gift shop. He's always been anti-gun. After the shooting he said that he realized that a bullet from a good guy could have stopped the bad guy no matter what kind of weapon the bad guy was using. He says he's going to convert his incense and unicorn gift shop into a gun mart. I guess we're the numbers haven't changed.

Even if it was true there are plenty of gun stores that will welcome the new found business. Some companies are reporting a 6 month backlog in getting product to stores everywhere.

This clown was probably already sold out and, being a pawn shop relying on incoming items that no one is selling, decided it would be a wonderful opportunity to get a few of his 15 minutes of publicity fame.

I've wandered into a few pawn shops over the years.
Not really a place where you can get a bargin.
Very seldom did I see what might be thought of as high end.
Most is junk suited to wall hanging, and asking price is out of line.
The paperwork and regulations they have to abide by are tremendous.
Many won't deal with firearms at all, because of that.
I suspect that guy is one of those, seeking a little attention.

Exactly. The pics show any of a half dozen Pawn Shops near me that all dwell in strip malls, barely have enough space to fart in and none sell guns. Guns take up space and his little shop just doesn't have the room.
