At the camp that I belong to, most of the guys (say, eight of twelve) use semiauto rifles. There's one Ruger Deerfield (old-style, with the tube magazine) .44 Magnum, and the rest of them use Remington 740s, 742s, or 7400s in either .30-06 or .308 Winchester. Two of the other four use Remington 760s, which (for those who aren't well-versed in weapons) are pump-action rifles, but one sometimes carries a Remington Model Four (top-of-the-line semiauto) from time to time. One of the last two uses a Savage Model 99 in .300 Savage, and I go back-and-forth between a Winchester 94 lever-action (.30-30 Winchester), and a Remington Model Seven bolt-action in .308 Winchester.
Semiautos are widely used in the Northern Zone of NY for hunting. DUmb****s need to know this. They don't load themselves up and decide to knock off local bodegas; the people (yes, because some women use them for hunting, too) who use them are generally responsible, safe people. They're mechanically identical to civilian ARs and AKs.
