This was a video the City of Houston released to teach people to respond to an "active shooter" in the workplace. It was produced with federal grants and was released in August.
Notice how quickly the gunman takes out the (armed) security guard. First one he goes for.
Notice that fighting back was considered the action of last resort. First and second resorts were to run (get outside) or hide. Fighting should only be considered a last resort.
Tabby, tabby, tabby.... Yeah, if you can get outside, do so, and call 911. However, in the case of Newtown, they were a bunch of innocent kids, and Lanza was blocking them in via standing in front of the door. Had the teacher(s) had a gun...problem solved. While it may be OK to hide, it ain't the best option. Remember Harris, and Klebold in the library? Yeah, they just peeked under desks, said "Peek-a-boo" or something to that effect, and blew them the **** away! Furthermore, did you see the chick in the video who closed the door, and put her BODY against it? Bad idea, buddy. I wouldn't suggesst you try it if found in the same situation. In summary, the only option is to FIGHT! I don't suggest using your hands against someone with a semi automatic. Let alone anything more powerful. You can if you want, but it's you're funeral, as they say. That is TRULY a last resort.
Suffice it to say, arm you teachers. It could be over in minutes, and everyone will be safe. That is, everyone but the shooter. Arm teachers. Pay no mind to shitty, poorly thought out PSA's from idiot liberal cities. Period.
