Boehner's term
« on: December 22, 2012, 11:41:18 AM »
How much longer before Boehner is replaced as Speaker?

I went with #1.

I believe the election in the House is set for January 3rd.  Going over the cliff won't necessarily have Jack to do with the outcome.  The TEA Partiers aren't strong enough to take over the GOP, and the non-TEA Partiers have divided opinions about where to go from here.  I doubt if there is anyone dying to kick him out and replace him who could muster the voting support to win it.

The ones wanting Boehner out the most are the ones that also want to go over the cliff the most so no way its #1.

There are serious questions about him winning the election in Ohio.

Not sure, but I've heard that voters are disgusted with him. But I don't really follow that.

He easily won his primary challenge in 2012 and ran unopposed in the general. Without a legitimate candidate to challenge him his seat is a pretty safe one from the looks of it.

I just don't follow that political scene in Ohio.

Not gonna happen.

If the bottom falls completely out of the mid-terms, and the Dems take control, then obviously Crybaby Boehner does the DBD.

Other than that, naw, ain't gonna happen.

When oh when will conservatives get someone with a solid backbone who will not negotiate and compromise with liberals? I am totally disgusted with the spineless jerks who "support" concerative values.

How exactly do you expect them to get anything done with that type of attitude?

I simply do not see a circumstance where this can happen. I remember in the late 1990s there was strong conservative opposition to Newt but it never came off because someone ratted out those who tried to take over.

Just like not all Dems being hard-core Commies (Though some are), not all Republicans are on board with the TEA Party and its program.  It's a huge mistake to think that the GOP Reps all are there representing the same kind of constituency or that they or their constituencies back home all support a take-no-prisoners Conservative agenda on fiscal, social, or any other kind of issue.

That said, the essence of negotiation is giving up something on both sides.  Obama and the Dems haven't given up squat on social spending, and with two years until the midterms, I'm not sure who the MSM thinks will be blamed for going over the cliff will matter a hoot in Hell.

As I understand the situation, the speaker gives out committee assignments / chairmanships just like Obama gives out taxpayer money. So if that is true, the "Boner" will continue till republicans lose the house.

EDIT:
Quote
Committee assignments are doled out by a steering committee headed by Mr. Boehner, and his spokesman, Michael Steel, said those decisions are “based on a variety of factors.”

Leadership aides disputed the notion that the four Republicans who were kicked off their committees were punished for being too conservative. They pointed to conservative lawmakers who won key committee assignments this year as evidence that it wasn’t a purge.

Ace of Spades has this today::

Confirmed: John Boehner Is In Over His Head. Way Over His Head
Quote
I think it's supposed to be a pro-Boehner piece that shows he was willing to go the extra mile at every turn only to run into an immovable object...Barack Obama. That much is true but the image of Boehner either not realizing or not caring that he was trying to "negotiate" with someone who was only interested in accepting nis surrender is depressing.

The vote for the Speaker of the House is tomorrow....will Boehner get re-elected?   Apparently there isn't anyone else vying for the spot.

On a side note, last week when Reid called Boehner a dictator, Boehner told Reid to go **** himself.  Reid, the worm that he is, said he was only reading what was written for him.....Reid's writers went to Boehner and swore they did not write any such thing.

I just heard all this on tv.

The establishment republicans still have too much power. One thing we've got to learn from the left, is how we wrestle our party away from the elites like they did. Of course, eventually the "radicals" become the elite status quo...like the "progressives" are now. Cracks me up they always thought themselves so unique, radical and enlightened and now they're just another generation of entrenched establishment stuck in their ways and doing whatever they have to do to stay in power.
