I'm being ****ED by Verizon
Last month I got notices from Verizon that I had exceeded my call time. My bill then doubled. I called assuming that my phone had been hacked. Instead she took me through my calls and assured me that it was my calls. Well, my phone bill DOUBLED. Then it it happened again this month.

The thing is, I haven't done anything that unusual. I'm thinking that some weasel figured out a way to up Verizon's quarterly profits. So I'm wondering, has anyone else had this happen to them?

but Verizon billed me for a full month of service after I cancelled it, 8 days before the billing cycle was over. I called and asked why as you pay for cell phone service 1 month in advance and they owe me for 8 days of unused service The customer service rep says "well it's more complicated than that, it's actually half a month in advance...I said fine, send me a bill that reflects I what I owe you, 15 days minus 8 days of credit and I'll be happy to pay you. They sent me to collections, who called every day, I simply hung up and they have now sold it to a collection agency while still sending me bills asking for the full amount! I should send a copy of both the letter from the collection agency and Verizon to the State Attorney General, but this is FL and AG is a Republican so I wouldn't get any satisfaction. Maybe I'll send them to the FCC. The cell phone companies have become as corrupt as the cable television companies.

That'll show em.

unless you don't care about your credit

there is a form letter that you need to send them requesting a copy of the bill upon which their demand is based validating the debt

http://www.creditinfocenter.com/forms/sampleletter9.shtml

they have 30 days or so to respond and if they don't, the debt is dead

send it certified and keep the receipt stamped with the date you sent it and the green return card

I was going to add that at my age I don't care about my credit scores. I have all the credit cards I need or want, a paid for car, no intention of getting a mortgage and I've been with the same auto insurance company for years. At this point in my life good credit is more of a liability as it makes one a target for identity theft. I do appreciate the information however, in case one of my children ever gets into a dispute with someone.

Great roll model.

This will be good.

Hey DUmmy it isn't rocket science tracking the minutes you use. I am pretty sure that you can see right on your phone how many minutes you are using. I would guess that Verizon probably even sends you a text when you are getting close to going over.
I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

I wonder if it's free obama minutes and it went over their 5 minute allotment.

Even it is an 0bamaphone they get 250 minutes. 250 minutes is more than enough I get 300 I think, plus free nights weekends and free cell to cell calls. I usually use about 30 to 40 minutes a month. Then again I have a job and don't sit at home yacking on the phone all day.

I get double minutes every time I buy minutes and still don't spend that kind of time on the phone.

I have a Tracfone.  They have a $50 card that lasts the life of the phone.

I use the Virgin Mobile phone you sent me for internet/radio access.

Tracfone is what I started off with years and years ago. They kind of sucked back then minutes were a bit pricey and there was no caller ID.

Verizon also lets you track your calls online for free.

I'm jealous. Canadian telco's don't do anything "unlimited" with the exception of bills.

We use StraightTalk, unlimited everything including web access for $45 a month.  And it's prepaid, so if you can't cough up the money, it just shuts your phone down...no extra charges, no collection agencies.  And no surprise charges, if it's not covered by the $45, they ask for a credit card number.   :-)

They sure do.

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

We have had issues with AT&T many times over minutes charged etc., however every time my husband called they always fixed the problem.    I guess we have been fortunate in that regard.

Yeah that, Jess.  You can tell from the post that this DUmmtard is a screamer, and unable to suck it up on the fact that he blew his minute limit and needs to pay up now, and then change his own behavior to keep it from happening again.

Of the few times that I have had to go to a 'customer service department' of any entity, I've found that talking like both the agent and I are adults works wonders.  (Cabela's even sent me a replacement item for something that I specifically told them not to, because I didn't really need it.  They must have pulled up my ordering history and said, 'Yeah, he spends a lot.  Give him a break.')

We have something like 7000 rollover minutes.

I think the problem is that DUmpmonkey is using an 0bamaphone, which uses nadintime (100 minutes per hour), while Verizon is using the old-time sixty minutes per hour.

At least the thread tittle got stevenumbers's attention.
