It's sad that this sort of thing happens.
« on: December 19, 2012, 07:32:40 PM »
This is a very rare occurrence in these parts of NS and I've only heard about one or two cases of peoples car being broken into once or twice in the last few years. And now it happened to a family I know. The saddest part is that it can be almost guaranteed some low life druggie is the one responsible for this sort of thing, as they always are.

The guy posted this in several places (such as classified ads and such) and I really do hope someone has a change of heart, but I don't think they will.

Just thought I'd share this and remind you guys to be careful when out buying things in the few days left before Christmas.

Indeed it is sad, but this is the year that the crooks come out of the woodwork with sad tales of Woe.

This sounds legit. as you say you know the family, I am just wondering about the ads they ran, costs money to do so.

As far as low life druggies stealing stuff, I have first hand knowledge that these family's have signed up for free Xmas toys for their children  all over town, they have 2 or 3 but claim they have 6 or more.

Delivered some food baskets to family's who were very poor, when the door opened the smell of pot hits you in the face and if you get to see inside the homes there are empty beer bottles scattered around everywhere, over flowing ashtrays with crumpled wrappers of premium cost cigarettes not the cheap brands.

Kind of became cynical after that one Xmas, step 1 on my progression from a liberal to a Conservative.

I'm with vesta on that. And car breaking this time of year is why I took the extra 30 minutes to drop my laptop home before going to our office holiday party last week. Mall plus no trunk to lock(SUV) plus laptop equals not a good mix. I didn't want to take the chance an opportunist was looking for an easy target. Sucks.

Several years ago, my Mom visited from Montana before Christmas.  This was before 9/11, so she brought all these Montana goodies for myself and my brother for Christmas.  She was on a limited income at the time, and spent days picking out jams, jellies, and beers from microbreweries that we couldn't get down here.  As she was staying with my brother, I offered to take the presents home with me to wrap for her.

My dumb butt put the presents in my back seat, not my trunk and when I got home I left them in the car because it was raining.  Guess what got stolen out of my back seat?

My mom was crushed.   :bawl:

I never forgot that.

And it really makes you lose faith in humanity right before Christmas.

Someone in Savannah is taking packages off of people's porches.
When Harry Truman was President of the United States, he had a sign on his desk in the White House that said: "The buck stops here." If Barack Obama had a sign on his desk, it would say: "The buck stops with Bush." - Thomas Sowell

I haven't heard of it happening this year, but one of the worst things is hearing about Nativity Scene figures being stolen or damaged.  That takes a special kind of sucky human being to do that.
