Maybe, perhaps, possibly I'll get a chance to plow some driveways. But probably not....  :(

Tractor's ready, and so am I.

I have doctors' appointments on Friday and Saturday mornings, but some snow would not prevent me from getting to them.

Quote
A major winter storm will affect the Midwest and Great Lakes Region Wednesday night through Thursday night. A powerful winter storm will move from the southern plains Wednesday to near Chicago Thursday morning and then across the eastern great lakes Friday morning. Rain will spread across much of the area Wednesday night, then change to snow from west to east Thursday morning into Thursday afternoon. Several inches of snow accumulation are possible across northwest Illinois, including the Rockford area. Very strong winds will develop by Thursday afternoon and continue into Thursday night with wind gusts over 45 m.p.h possible. These strong winds combined with the falling snow may produce near white out conditions.

A winter storm watch remains in effect from Thursday morning Through Thursday evening:

Timing: Rain or a rain snow mix will develop Wednesday evening, changing to all snow Thursday morning with snow continuing through Thursday evening.

Impacts: Periods of heavy snow may produce snowfall totals of locally 6 inches or more. Very windy conditions will develop late Thursday morning and continue through Thursday evening with northwest winds gusting as high as 45 m.p.h, which will produce significant blowing and drifting snow and possibly near white out conditions.

Other impacts: Anyone with travel plans during this time period should be prepared for possible dangerous winter conditions as well as significantly increased travel times. Strong northwest winds gusting to around 35 m.p.h. will continue after midnight Thursday night, continuing to cause areas of blowing and drifting snow and locally reduced visibility. Temperatures bottoming out in the mid-teens by early Friday morning, combined with the strong winds will result in wind chill values falling to near or just below zero.

Will it snow or not?

Yeah, the first snow storm in 10/11 months is supposed to hit about 5 pm tonight.  Thus potentially ruining the attendance at my Christmas movie trivia show tonight. >:(

We're under a blizzard warning here in WI. The big snow dump has hit Minnesota already. Not sure how I'm going to get home from work since I don't drive, I'm working until midnight, and the snow is supposed to start at midnight. Kinda wish it started before I have to go here soon so that I could call in, and say I couldn't get there. The cab companies won't be sunning tonight. That's a certainty. (Out of town, that is, and Petro is out of town.)

Here in SW Missouri, we usually get ice under these conditions. But, since it's been warmer than usual lately, the ground temp may keep it off the roads - but not the bridges which we have plenty of.

BTW, I was born in northern IA, grew up in Kansas City, and I love the winter with snow and all. And my '89 Bronco doesn't mind the ice. But my wife's '02 Windstar has to stay home.

When are you going up to Gatlinburg? I'm 5 minutes from the West Hills exit in Knoxville. Snow showers are predicted tomorrow night through most of Friday morning, then rain again on Monday.

Will keep you all informed on how this transpires. Supposed to be working at a bar at 7, will be watching the weather & crowd very closely to see if we cancel the show. Could always use the money, but will gladly cancel if that'll get me home safely.
