1. Same here.

DH had an old hunting rifle and got rid of it as soon as we had our first baby. Didn't want it in the house. Seemed like a no-brainer decision at the time.

2. I protected my child by teaching them at a young age about the dangers and proper use of guns.

In AK at the time with a bear rifle. Child learned guns aren't toys and to never ever assume one was empty.

Isn't that child abuse according to the DUmp?

8. I can't imagine living with oneself after accidentally shooting your child, spouse, or beloved pet

and how easy it would be. I had a beautiful yellow lab with epilepsy, but whose seizures were extremely intermittent. Yet the startling noises I would awaken to when she first developed those seizures, would surely have had me brandishing a gun against a suspected prowler, had I had one.

How easy it would be to shoot a loved one by mistake....Beyond incomprehensible....

At least you realize that you aren't mentally competent enough to keep a firearm in your house and you don't.

If you goons don't want to have guns in your house, then don't. The rest of us will decide for ourselves whether we want one, or many, or even none. That is the decision of the individual not the Preezy, not congress, and certainly not DU.

You should put a sign out front stating such!
"Liberalism is an essentially feminine, submissive world view. Perhaps a better adjective than feminine is infantile. It is the world view of men who do not have the moral toughness, the spiritual strength to stand up and do single combat with life, who cannot adjust to the reality that the world is not a huge, pink-and-blue, padded nursery in which the lions lie down with the lambs and everyone lives happily ever after."

I doubt it. I grew up with firearms and was shooting by the time I was 8. It was understood that we were never to touch them unless Pa Perky was around. We never even thought about it. Now this was a different era too. I used to carry a folding buck knife in a little pouch on my belt... even to school. So did a bunch of the other guys. We was all boy scouts and practically lived in the woods. It never entered our minds to whip it out and use on someone else. As a matter of fact, when there was gonna be a fight, most times the knives got took off the belts and tossed to the side cause when you are rolling around on the ground those suckers would hurt your hip.

Children are different now. I blame the parents... especially the lib kind. Children started getting out of hand when they took spanking out of school.

You know, the right to keep Bear Arms, and all that stuff. Any DUmpmonkey will tell you that Bear Rifles are the guns the Old Dead White Guys were talking about when they wrote the Bill of Suggestions. The first draft looked like this: "A well-regulated militia of giant omnivores being necessary to the defense of a free state, the right to keep Bear Arms shall not be infringed."

Then there was this transcription error, and the rest (as gnads says) is history!

I'm only in my 50s, and kids had rifles in their pick-ups in the school parking lot all the time.  No one ever shot another person.  I don't even know of a kid in my school that wasn't taught proper use and safety with guns.

I'm only 40 and I recall in high school some kids had riffles (as nadin calls them) in the trunk of their cars, and pocket knives and even a tire iron.

At some point all this changed. I just wish I knew why. We taught our boys gun safety from the time they were very young. Neither shot up a classroom. Then again, my youngest is a warmongering Marine. It's probably because we taught him gun safety and took him hunting. Killing Bambi just wasn't enough I guess. My grandchildren love being here when we're ridding the farm of as much of the wild turkey population we can. They like to watch their bodies flopping around in their death throes. We should probably keep them away from book suppositories when they're adults. Maybe tell them they can't be teachers either. God forbid they should have a weapon nearby capable of stopping a crazy person with guns.

Hi5!  I grew up in a home with firearms and learned very early to respect them.  I could clean a rifle almost before I could tie my shoes.  Not one time ever, did I observe a firearm do anything by itself.

My Dad kept a loaded gun near the door.  He was always afraid one of his "customers" would find out where he lived and try to cause trouble.  The only time it ever came out was when my drugged out neighbor and her drugged out boyfriend showed up to do something about the fact that I had beat her boy's ass in a fair fight.  I was alone and they weren't leaving, but I didn't want to call the cops on them. I opened the door and held the gun behind it.  If they had charged into my house they would have both died.

Given the level of mental illness at the DUmp, and how the profile of some of these recent shooters so closely match that of your typical DUmmy (wouldn't surprise me if this latest asshole didn't stop in there now and again), their not having a gun in their homes in probably a wise move.

The DUmmies seem to be under the mistaken belief that a gun is an evil creature. A gun is a tool. Nothing more. Nothing less. It is a tool that can be used to do good or to do evil. Making guns illegal will not stop murders. The main reason that I say this is because making murder illegal didn't stop murder. The secondary reason is that murders were happening long before guns were invented. Aztecs, Mayans, Romans, Spartans, Persians, and the list goes on. None had guns, but many are dead at their hands.

Based on her alleged experiences and vast knowledge of everything nadin could be considered a deadly weapon. Should she be outlawed?

Growing up we we had a .22 revolver and a 12-gauge shotgun in the house. Neither ever hurt any of us. On the other hand, we have been hurt by hammers in the house. We've been hurt by pencils in the house. By staplers. By stoves. Should all of these things be outlawed?

Not that I agree with their hysteria... Far from it but I never saw guns in school nor learned about them. This was thru a couple different states and about 4 different school systems but I never lived in an area that was big into hunting. My point in this is I assume the same may be true for a lot of dummies. They have no concept of the times you all are talking about and I don't either to be honest but I don't share their anti gun hysteria.

My understanding is the numbers are a little skewed. Many of them come from homes with illegal guns and the lifestyle that goes with it. Just like the 'children' that are shot. The age on the statistics that they quote a 'child' is 21 and younger and encompasses 'children' shot while engaged in drug deals and gang activity.

This guy in Vermont has the right idea:

http://patriotaction.net/profiles/blogs/a-novel-idea-register-nongun

Quote
Vermont 's constitution states explicitly that "the people have a right to bear arms for the defense of themselves and the State" and those persons
who are "conscientiously scrupulous of bearing arms" shall be required to "pay such equivalent." Clearly, says Maslack, Vermonters have a
constitutional obligation to arm themselves, so that they are capable of responding to "any situation that may arise."

Under the bill, adults who choose not to own a firearm would be required
to register their name, address, Social Security Number, and driver's
license number with the state.
"There is a legitimate government interest in knowing who is not prepared to defend the state should they be asked to do
so," Maslack says

If we take it further, being that higher rates of gun ownership lowers the crime rate in those areas, shouldn't unarmed people have to foot more of the tax burden to provide them protection?

Bravo, DUmmy!  No, seriously; I truly commend you for being brighter than 99% of your fellow DUmp Dwellers.  For you have recognized that, in being too stupid to breathe without assistance from a gub'mint-provided coach, you have no conceivable business behind the business end of a firearm.  Most of the rest of your DUmbshit cohorts continue to feed these entirely unrealistic fantasies they cherish, of taking up arms against their Rethuglikkkan oppressors; fantasies which can only serve to end their miserable, parasitic existences prematurely and with violent abruptness.
