A Preview of the ’12-12-12 Concert and Where to Watch

An all-star musical lineup that crosses genres and generations will band together at Madison Square Garden this evening for the “12-12-12″ Sandy relief concert.

Helping to kick off the concert will be Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band at 7:30 p.m. Other featured acts include Alicia Keys, Billy Joel, Kanye West, Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton and The Who. Specific set-lists haven’t been announced, a spokeswoman for Madison Square Garden said.

The concert is sold out, but organizers say the concert will be available to “nearly two billion” people across the globe on TV and on the Web.

If you want to watch, there are several options.Thirty-four television stations will broadcast the concert, including AMC, the Smithsonian Channel and HBO. Additionally, another 30 websites — including Hulu, AOL and Yahoo YHOO -0.38% — will stream the show live. Two Sirius XM stations, Channel 20 and Channel 22, will play the show.

Money from the benefit concert will go to the Robin Hood Foundation, a New York City group. More details are available on the concert’s website. Speakeasy will cover the concert from inside Madison Square Garden, so check in later for more.

The affected area is solid blue and nothing will change that.

That puts them in a precarious position.

The normal parts of the country could not care less if they live or die, and the jug-eared muslim knows they're solid democrat no matter what he does.

Why don't these celebrities ever do benefits when the mid west gets hit by mother nature? 

Sure there was a concert when Nashville flooded a few years ago, but it was country musicians that put it on.

I'd be curious to know if an actual victim of a natural disaster has ever seen a direct benefit from a benefit concert.

It probably happens, but I've never heard of it.

I suspect most of the people who benefit are the producers, agents, lawyers, etc.

I believe P.J. O'Rourke did a study on this.  The answer is no.  Especially when it involves foreign issues, such as Bangladesh.  I believe that not One Damned Dime went to help a single soul.

Steal from the rich to give to the poor has many meanings.    Who is to decide who is the rich or the poor ???

How do we sort them out ?????  Lets start at not the top but the bottom shall we.

Poorest neighborhood in town, the Police have lockers of stolen bikes they can auction off to the Public.  Instead
of this they go into the neighborhood and sell raffle tickets to the kids for .25 cents each.   At least 100+ kids will have their name drawn.

The lucky kids that have their name drawn will go home with a Bike.   Ah but there are others that either didn't have their name drawn or were not about to spend a trifling on a raffle as it would cut into their drug money.

Now the lucky kids with bikes make them victims of those that have no bike.  The kids with the bikes are now considered rich by those that have none.   Bottom the so called poor either steal these bikes as they consider it their due or themselves as Robin Hood, steal from the rich to give to the poor.

All is about how the rich and poor is designanted.   Horrid Name for a Charity, Robin Hood,  does this mean that my backyard grill is up for grabs by a family that has none ????   Once they steal it is it up for grabs for others that do not have one, others poorer then themselves ??????   Before you know it the grill is totally trashed found in a homeless camp.

You no longer have a $800 grill, the thieves that stole it no longer have it, the thieves that stole it from the first thieves no longer have it and it now is a heap of garbage in the woods.

I was seeing reports this morning that were saying about the black community being upset over the lack of black people there, and the feminines are all upset because Alicia Keys was the only female headliner.

I agree with your statement about Kanye. A lof of people said that he sucked. And they gave him more time than Clapton and Billy Joel! Grrr ...

How much did this concert cost the taxpayer?  Do the entertainers get to deduct the value of their time as a charitable deduction?  I would suspect they do.

Ill never understand the fascination of watching a concert on TV. Going to one live can be an experience but watching on TV its just out of tune/sync/key music getting drowned out by cheering.

I muted the speechs, Springsteen, etc.  The screen still showed what they want singing.  Until KW.  Guess they couldn't understand him either.  :whistling:
