US News WASHINGTON (AP) — White people will no longer make up a majority of Americans by 2043, according to new census projections. That's part of a historic shift that already is reshaping the nation's schools, workforce and electorate, and is redefining long-held notions of race.

The official projection, released Wednesday by the Census Bureau, now places the tipping point for the white majority a year later than previous estimates, which were made before the impact of the recent economic downturn was fully known.

No, but reparations are still in order because, well, slavery happened and white people are at fault.

Looking at this thing a little selfishly, I really couldn't give a rat's ass about 2043. I'll be 87 (if I'm alive then) and wearing Depends, drooling on myself, and an Alzheimer's patient.

I'd be 85, but unfortunately my grandson will only be 35 and getting persecuted by that time for his race, I've no doubt.  I have no illusions about how minorities who become majorities behave.  Look at any inner city and try going through it as a white person.  I spent a year as a bussed in student at an all black Montgomery AL junior high school and it wasn't fun.  Even worse, two of my cousins (poor white kids) got beat up on a regular basis going to school in downtown Chicago.  Doubt things are gonna get better.
OTOH, I heard the other day that Mexicans are now leaving the USA in greater numbers than they are sneaking in across the border, because our economy is doing worse than Mexico's.  Guess Obama was good for something.
