Stinky The Clown (48,735 posts) Sun Dec 9, 2012, 03:35 PMBreadfruit . . . does anyone have any experience with it?I bought one today for the lofty sum of 99¢, never having seen one before and not knowing a damned thing about them - except that they're a staple in some cultures and a treat in others.
Le Taz Hot (13,347 posts) Sun Dec 9, 2012, 03:45 PM1. I had it one time in Tahiti as part of a Luau. Prepared traditionally on hot coals and buried. It was one of the grossest things I've ever tasted but the Polynesians love it, so each his own I guess. Never had any experience preparing it.
"The nation that couldn’t be conquered by foreign enemies has been conquered by its elected officials" odawg Free Republic in reference to the GOP Elites who are no difference than the Democrats
Breadfruit. Disgusting stuff.Cutting down the trees makes for a good way to gum up your chainsaw. There is however, some limited entertainment value in sitting back at 300 yards and popping the fruit with a large rifle.
You wouldn't get to within 50 yards and pop 'em with a 12 gauge slug?
Don't own a shotgun though.
Well, if all comes to nought, Stinky could wear a condom....
2008, vacation to Kauai. Wife thinks breadfruit is supposed to taste like an artichoke. She was wrong.
"Like undercooked potatoes," says Diane Ragone, a Kauai horticulturalist.
