KC Chiefs Player Fatally Shoots Himself
« on: December 01, 2012, 10:25:46 AM »
A Kansas City Chiefs player died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound Saturday morning at the team's training facility, Kansas City Police Communications Supervisor Kathy Childs said.

The shooting occured at 7:50 a.m. local time at the team's facility near Arrowhead Stadium, Childs said. She said police know the name of the player, but declined to release his name since the shooting was still under investigation.

Police also said another shooting off-site was linked to the shooting.

The Chiefs have released a statement in regard to the incident:

"We can confirm that there was an incident at Arrowhead earlier this morning. We are cooperating with authorities in their investigation."

From what I'm hearing, it was LB Jovan Belcher, but as of now, that's just a rumor. My thoughts and prayers are with the person's family, friends, and the entire Chief organization.

If this is true, I'm not sad at all that the un-named Chief player is dead. I am sad for his family, and for the team. What a disgusting, cowardly thing to do if true.

He murdered his girlfriend and then killed himself. Murder suicide.
The shame is only that an innocent was killed.

Damn.

I don't follow football but I've heard some terrible things about injuries recently.  I was tempted to dismiss most of it as liberal/progressive attempts to undermine professional sports, but after Junior Seau's suicide it definitely doesn't look good.

He was in the injured list in2009 for a head injury too. I've sniffed around a bit into character of the girlfriend too. By all accounts they seemed a pretty loving young couple with a brand new baby and she seemed like a pretty devoted, Christian young woman from an interracial family and who was so accepted in his that it was his mother who reported the shooting and said 'my daughter has been shot'. And he killed himself after thanking his coach for everything they had done for him. Just really ****ing weird...

Agreed. That was the point in my post as well. Both parties and their extended friends and family give no indication of purposeful instability and seem very well loved with an extensive and solid support network and seemed very happy and proud of the new family they just started:(

 Terrible:(

He's a U Maine graduate, and nobody and nothing to indicate he had such propensities back then.

So yeah, more than likely nothing we'll know until well after.

Prayers for all involved.

"Liberalism is an essentially feminine, submissive world view. Perhaps a better adjective than feminine is infantile. It is the world view of men who do not have the moral toughness, the spiritual strength to stand up and do single combat with life, who cannot adjust to the reality that the world is not a huge, pink-and-blue, padded nursery in which the lions lie down with the lambs and everyone lives happily ever after."

And lets not forget Belcher was a starting Linebacker in the NFL. If we remove the gun, there are dozens of ways he could have killed her just physically based on the sheer size difference. Costas owes America an apology for fing up halftime.

It is possible that she was breaking up with him and that she would see him in court about alimony and child support. Or, she might have indicated she was seeing someone else.

We will probably never know what set him off. From my perspective, he is a murderer and a coward and is going straight to hell. That is what Costas should have focused on instead of political crap about guns.
