Quote
(CNN) – Count Vice President Joe Biden among the Washingtonians eagerly awaiting the opening of the District's first Costco.

The second in command made a trip across town Thursday to shop the first Washington location of the wholesale giant on its opening day, walking in prepared with his Costco membership card, which he flashed to the minder at the front door.

A Biden aide said the vice president and his wife have long been patrons of Costco, which requires customers to buy an annual membership to shop at their large warehouse-style stores. The aide said Biden's membership was re-activated Wednesday – including paying the $55 fee - in anticipation of his DC spree.

As he strolled the store's aisles, Biden grabbed a few samples of the store's food items, and picked up, among other things, a Panasonic television and an apple pie. Workers from the store's tire department attempted to get the vice president to browse their offerings, but were rebuffed.

"Hey man I don't need tires," Biden said. "I don't drive anymore."  ::)

So are the DUmpmonkeys going to say everyone should be able to shop at Costco without paying the annual fee?  Isn't this elite?

He had a gaggle of reporters following him and I would have been PISSED if they blocked my way.  I would have rammed him with my shopping cart.  Hey! it's been done with lesser people in my way.

No, they would be demanding that they Unionize and pay a living wage.

starting pay here at Costco is like 12 bucks.  Plus they can buy into the insurance I think.

Not necessarily true, dahlin'.

According to PayScale, Costco pays its people 13% above market.

You could argue, based on the pay scales at the link, that you're correct. I don't know what the "market rate" is in your area, so it's a question mark.

I'm a great fan of Costco myself and based on research I'd done in the past, the employees there at Costco have traditionally been paid more than the standard. Turnover is very low, despite it being a retail operation.

People simply like working there. The president and COO is a moonbat, but he's good to his people.

Oh I love Costco and blow around 250 there every week  :panic:  It's a great store and I was just stating what the starting pay here was.

Sorry, maybe I misunderstood you when you said "starting pay here at Costco is like 12 bucks."

That sounded like a guess to me, for starters; and secondly it sounded like Costco was paying its people chump change.

Comparatively speaking, they don't. They pay their people well.

If I misunderstood you, my hearty apologies.

Every few years BJ's sends us a FREE 6 month temporary card to have us come check them out. All too often I find that with coupons shopping the sales in the local stores in the end they BJ's costs more in the long run.

Do I need 12 jars of mayo, do I need 24 cans of tomato sauce,  I can buy bulk Meats cheaper then theirs when
there is a sale at the local food stores.

Never could understand why people are all so ready to Pay a Store to be allowed to shop there ?

Gina can you explain the savings you get from Costco that you can not get anywhere else ????

They're pretty well known for how extraordinarily well they treat their employees.  By providing actual living wages, health insurance, and other benefits they're able to have more engaged and productive employees with very low turn over.  There's been some I interesting studies on it.
