Secretary of State and Women
« on: November 29, 2012, 10:59:35 AM »
I'm wondering why any administration would choose a woman for Secretary of State.  (I'm a woman, so I can say this.). In this age of terrorism, it seems to me that a lot of the Secretary of State's time must be spent dealing with radical Muslims who think women are inferior and not fit for such positions.  I think there are women who are perfectly capable of being Secretary of State when dealing with countries who view women as we view them here in our country.  But I think it's unfair to put a woman in this position when dealing with countries who do not consider women to be equals - it's unfair to the woman and it's unfair to our country.  Of course, this makes me terribly politically incorrect, but I don't figure any of you give a hoot about political correctness.  Correct me if I'm wrong.

Madeline Albright, Condi Rice, Hillary Clinton.  12 of the last 16 years.

Sorry, not really seeing a problem based on the plumbing of the holder of office.

So we should appease the muslims by only appointing men? Not to mention a lot of muslims secretly like women in power its like a taboo for them. Think about Gaddafi and his creepy obsession with Condi.

I guess it's all in your point of view, but I think Gaddafi's obsession with Condi was not condusive to good diplomacy - but that's just me.

As for the idea that we're somehow giving in to the Muslims if we refrain from sending them female diplomats - maybe there's some validity to this.  But I think the #1 top priority is that our diplomat in chief (secretary of state) be taken SERIOUSLY.

It's not as much of a problem as appointing a gay ambassador to a Muslim country crawling with Shari'a jihadist militias.

I have no problem with a woman being SecState.

However...

Given the state of the religion of peace around the world today...I think when dealing with those countries...it might be wise to send your male deputy to certain places to conduct business.
