To be brutally honest, the metric system IS more logical and easier to use. It is the only measurement used in science, and only America uses the old English system in commercial and legal use.
Having said that, since America created the world standard for socio-economics throughout the 20th century, the usage of the English system is pretty much ingrained and won't be changed until economics completely shift outside of US domination. As I was in the military, though, I am more used to kilometers and meters than most Americans (though most Americans can roughly equate a meter to a yard), as well as served in foreign countries that used kilometers exclusively in their civilian venues. Even out of the military for 20 years, I catch myself looking at the inner kilometer scale on my speedometer, but that's just a habit.
What the DUmmy is INSTINCTIVELY talking about, however, is an inference to the government mandating changing EVERYTHING from English to metric, with the ensuing costs and fees associated with such change, and having it controlled by an Obamanaut. In short, sticking it to the corporations and to "backwards (implication: "rethug")- thinking Americans." THAT is what we all know; it's not about personal preference; it's about mandating said preferences for everyone, and mandating the change be paid for by the rich republican bastards.
