I really did have this conversation in the store. No, I was not brilliant and scathing, but I want to know if anyone else has heard this lie.

I have to say that my attire invited commentary. I have a button that has a picture of Big Bird saying, "Hey, Mitt!" and flipping off Romney. I still wear it, because it is funny.

The checkout girl, who could not have been more than twenty, said to me, "Is that Big Bird, flipping of McRomney?" I said yes. She said, "I like McRomney." (Yes, she really did call him that). "I wish he had won."

"We would all be a lot poorer if he had won," I said. "I am glad he lost."

I thought that would be the end. Then the little twit said, "Did you notice, that Obama was only elected two weeks ago, and our taxes have gone up already?"

I said, "That is not true. What taxes have you paid in the last two weeks that have gone up?"

She did not answer, but said, "Haven't you heard about that?"

I said, "I have not heard that, because it is not true. You should not be saying that to people in the store, because it is not true."

That is all I said. There was no brilliant argument or anything else. The couple in line behind me did get more friendly after they heard me, but that is all.

Has anyone else heard this lie about taxes?

4. Not surprising....

the whole Tea Party BS was launched immediately after Pres Obama signed a large tax cut into law.

They seem to thrive on cognitive dissonance and denial.

What tax cut was that?

During GW Bush's presidency, all we heard from the dims was "TAX CUTS FOR THE RICH!"

Sooooooooooooooo, why NOT let them expire Jan.1?  Only the rich would be affected, right?

Well, you have to actually pay taxes to understand how screwed we all are misfit.    The fiscal cliff in January is nothing compared to the full depression that is coming.

I wish we had a large tax cut signed in by Obama.  We've been paying more in taxes since he was elected the first time.  We are scared of what's going to happen on our January 4 paychecks.

51% of the voters in this country wants higher taxes and more government. I say give it to them, long and hard. No matter what happens, unless it is good, will be the republican in the House that caused it so I say go over the cliff. Thing will not change until the low information and government teat sucking DUchebags in our nation feel pain. I want them to feel lots of pains and letting ALL the Bush tax rates expire will be one very big dose of pain.

I feel the same way. And then the GOP needs to shout long and loud about how the Bush tax cuts weren't just for the rich and the media and dems lied. Don't believe us? The proof is in your paycheck.

We might as well go off the cliff as far as I am concerned. It will happen sooner or later anyway and it's about time the moochers start feeling some real pain for a change. Nothing would make me happier than to see a bunch of obese moochers standing in the soup line.

The problem with that logic is that the vast majority of 0bamaites pay zero taxes now, and will pay zero taxes in the future.
