The last "I'm taking off" thread I posted had hardly any participation.

But maybe because thundley4 started this one, this one will take off.

The purpose of a "taking off" thread is to let others know that one will be gone for the holiday, and was first used at our old home years ago.

I'll be gone over night, but then I almost never come here on weekends/holidays. Probably won't see me till Monday.

Now everything's cleaned up and cleared up, and we're ready to go up through the cheddar curtain tomorrow!

In a couple hours we'll be making a trip south to my sisters, and should be back by 6 or 7 tonight.

Not shopping tomorrow, in fact I won't be going anywhere but outside to play with the dog.

I'll be around, as two days ago my wife decided that we'd have her parents up here for Thanksgiving.  They brought the bird and all the fixins.

Okay, here it is, 11:30 a.m. out in the Sandhills, and I'm taking off, for Thanksgiving in town.  I dunno how long I'll be gone, but it's reasonable to assume until about 3:00 p.m.

Alas, it's going to be a primitive-free Thanksgiving, as the primitive is too ill to bring down here, from the nuthouse up in South Dakota.

But whatever; there's always a story to be found in everything.

My parents bought a house way the hell out in Leiper's Fork, Tennessee.  Let's just say it was an interesting drive.  My brother and I drove down there, ate, and drove back.  It was the quickest Thanksgiving dinner I've ever had.  I would have stayed for a day or two but my brother has to be at work tomorrow.
