I've seen this all season with a bunch of teams.  Why haven't the coaches told the players if you catch the ball on the kickoff in the endzone, go down to a knee?  Very unlikely you're gonna run it out past the 25 yd line.

I know Ohio State's in some deep do-do, but does that include their not being allowed to be ranked?

They're 10-0, and unranked.

I knew there were other penalties, but I never thought not being ranked was one of them, as in the past penalized programs have been ranked.

Once the BCS got started the ranking penalty started also because polls effect the BCS rankings. The sad thing is OSU could have taken their penalty last year when they were mediocre and been in the NC hunt this year.
