Weekend Update
« on: May 31, 2008, 11:31:26 AM »
Howday folks....time for a weekend thread!

This has certainly been an interesting week, both online and in real life.

Just read a headline that says both Rachel Ray and Hillary Clinton wish they could go back and change a couple things they did this week, and that brings up our topic of the weekend.....What would you like to change in the past week?

I'll go first.  :-)

TOTW: I wish I could take back the tornaodoes that hit Nebraska...

Quote
Tornadoes were also reported in Kearney, about 60 miles west of Aurora, where 90 rail cars were blown off the tracks outside the city limits. There were reports of downed trees and power lines throughout Kearney, and reports of damage on the University of Nebraska at Kearney campus and at a county fairgrounds.

My sister lives there, my mother is visiting for a month....all my family is fine, they just lost power for a few hours, my sister has many friends touched by the damage...I am still a little shook up about this...

Have a great weekend!

Managed to get out and deal with the garden.  After a week of torrential rain and a few nights working late at the office, so I couldn't do much in the evenings, my poor garden was in a sorry state.  I managed to knock over a strawberry tower and damaged the roots of some of the plants.  :censored:

But on the bright side I have sown some rice and harvested the first few raspberries.

Definitely, freshly picked and home grown they are so tasty.  These ones are ridiculously early but I think that's due to the weird weather we've been having.

.....What would you like to change in the past week?

Several things, but my mood is changing, so I want to only think happy thoughts.

I'm thinking a social outing involving a band, a few brews and some rowdy drunks might be just the ticket to lift my spirits.

Glad the family is OK, Rob.  Scary stuff.

Got the grocery shopping done.
Thinking about giving ol' stinky (the dog) a bath.

Both ball games rained out today, but had a great one last night.   Planning a "date night" with Mr Flame toinght (just a movie and some wine and munchies here at home) since he's leavign town tomorrow for a week.  :bawl:

TOTD:  What would I change in the past week? Can't think of anything that affects me personally.

What movie? More importantly, what kind of wine?

No idea on the movie yet...whatever is on pay-per-view we feel like watching.  Got a choice between a Pino Noir and Sauvignon Blanc for the wines...we'll see what sounds good later.

I just returned from a four hour hike in the desert. I had some interesting stops...Wells Fargo....Long John Silver's.....Saddle West Casino....and the post office.....When I left it was about 80 outside....now about 95.....just about a perfect day so far....put five miles on my shoes.

I hope to get my own reality show soon....

So what did the rest of you do today?

Took a nap.  Now my neck hurts.  :censored:

TBS (I think) has been running Rocky movies all day.  Too bad they're on #4, because that was the last good one.  #3 is my favorite -- Mister T kicks ass. :-)
If you want to worship an orange pile of garbage with a reckless disregard for everything, get on down to Arbys & try our loaded curly fries.

It hit 96 here...spent a couple hours wet.....no I did not wet myself...I went swimming......then some friends of mine and I went out to dinner....I did change out of my speedo first  :-)

The resturant was sorta slow, graduation weekend here...my friends asked if they could take the rib bones and prime rib fat home to their dog (it was a buffet) the lady said "sure" and brought them a box for it all....then the waitress brought over another box full of meat trimmings from the buffet chef so they could also take those home to the dog...that darn dog is going to eat better then me tomorrow...

I made sure we filled out a comment card and left an extra big tip...and the couple that I went out to dinner with paid for my meal.....I was looking for the check to pay for theirs....I hope they don't turn out to be swingers....LOL

I am worn out, and need to go to bed....
