Just curious, how come Hollywood gets all these tax breaks? I know they request tax breaks to keep filming in California, but why do they even ask for tax breaks? and why do they get them? shouldn't they pay their fair share?

Libs aren't totally adverse to tax breaks/abatements and the such. They just reserve the right to pick winners and losers.
It is said that branches draw their life from the vine. Each is separate yet all are one as they share one life giving stem . The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.

I'm not familiar with their tax breaks, but Hollywood goes out of state and out of country because of what it costs them to shoot a film.  Maybe the breaks are so they will stay here and film????????

I'll tell you why, straight from the LA times. The film industry is hemorrhaging jobs in kalifornia to lower tax locales. In all other cases job losses have nothing to do with taxes and regulations except in the film industry where they do.

See also, taxes on cigarettes and energy lessen demand for cigarettes and energy but taxes on investment income will increase investing.

Also see leftism is a mental disease and 1+1=POTATO.

When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Come to Colorado. Shorter move and we could use some sane CA'ers to counter all the San Fransickos that moved to Boulder.
Lived in that area for almost 40 years before coming to Texas, 12 of them ago.
The influx of Kalifornicans ruined the state for me.
Cost of living played skyrocket, and the quality of life played brick.

That's true. Otherwise, wind power, solar power, and these goofy electric cars would not exist.

And they will all cease to exist the moment the handouts stop.

Yes, but it's hypocritical of them to do that, they keep saying they want to pay more taxes so why do they ask for tax breaks and get them?

Hollywood is being hypocritical then, and they need to be called out on it.

The porn industry says it's leaving because of the new L.A. County rubber law.

Why yes, yes they should.   I posted an article on my FB about that and may have even mentioned or posted  it here.  The jist of it was that the Republcans should embrace a return of the  Enterainment tax.    Not really a new tax just reinstate an old one and drop all Hollywierd tax credits plus demand all films use generally accepted accountng procedures (not the bs they use now).   The premise was that who in Hollywood would throw the first stone. A win / win.

Funny thing is Hollywood is not the biggest money maker for California.

Downtown L.A. they shoot commercials and movie scenes.  The city likes when they do that and even supplies extra police.  It makes the rest of us mad because of traffic and parking problems we already have to begin with.
