A shining city on a hill.
Once the grandest of them all.
Besieged by the ignorant
how far will she fall?
Freedom's guiding light
now dimmed for none to see.
What has happened to the land
of the brave and of the free?
I guess I should add 'blink.blink.blink.blink.' somewhere to make it a good poem.
There are quite a few familys that were displaced at gun point in New London Conn. when they refused to sell their homes they had lived in for generations .
Not that long ago, with in all our life times. A bell weather to the country.
A company came in that wanted to build a big Hotel on the land. they offered the home owners 50. cents on the dollar for their homes and property. Say one had a home valued with land at at $150,000 they wanted it all for $60,000 . These homes and property had been paying taxes for 50 years on the property and now expected to take chump change for them ?
Sad state of affaires when the State took the property by public domain, not to benifit the state residents but to allow a private company to build a Hotel.
Some home owners held out to be forced out of their homes by the State police, some were shot and killed defending their property. Soon as people forget New London Conn. it will happen in some other part of the country.
