That piece of crap will never, ever get so much as a drop of blood from me.

If you live near a major military post, you might want to look into this instead: Armed Services Blood Program. Little known fact: the ARC sells blood to the military (among other organizations), for profit The Blood Brokers.

I don't want to give the impression that no one should donate blood. Just realize what's going on before you go donate at the ARC thinking it's an altruistic org looking out for people.

I'll vouch for that via my brother.

In 1969, he was stationed at Keesler AFB when Hurricane Camille came through.  After all the enlisted who had left the area came back to base, they sent them out to help clean up the area around Biloxi.  They had been out for several hours and hadn't had anything to drink, so they saw a Red Cross truck nearby and went over to get some water.  The Red Cross refused to let them have any since they were military.  They're telling them "Look, we're out here cleaning up and trying to help and you won't give us any water?"  You gotta be kidding."  But nope, they wouldn't.

What the Red Cross did there was stupid.  Since then, my brother will have nothing to do with the Red Cross.
