You are complainig about the lions reference by pointing out that Christians actually tortured and killed non Christians when they were in power. So you are saying 'So many atheits, so few murderous State empowered Christian clerics'. And that is the point, really. To this day, Christian clerics constantly attack and libel others, organize hate groups against innocent people, they use politics and money to fill agendas of control and oppression. They use threats of torture and murder and State empowerment. Christians threaten my family's future daily, saying they will make sure we suffer for being who we are. Some of them are not that way, but fact is Christian preachers declare war on gay people, in those words, frequently. They threaten us with violence. Their peers in the faith do NOT demand that they stop it, most of them defend it.

Further, the KKK still exists, Uganda's DP-law for gays issupported by Christian groups in the US, the Vatican opposes condoms in all circumstances, Mormons teach that gay people are "of the devil" - how can any intellectually honest Christian claim, in good faith, that these are extreme examples, or outliers? Homophobic hate groups, misogynists and bigotry strike a chord with a BIG segment of Christianity.
