Even if Romney testified that Staples was worthless, that might have been true at the time. It's only when the company shortly after went public that he and his buddy made millions.

So I see plenty of space in which to obfuscate and distract from the facts.

I was seeing his performance in the last debate as that of a whipped dog and thought this might have something to do with it. I'm not so sure anymore.

That's what I kept thinking. Why didn't she keep her shares, or most of them? If she was married to a businessman then she should know how the business world works and that waiting until a company goes public might be a good thing. I think she sold most of her shares for less than $3 . The Staples IPO was @$19/share.  She was given 500,000 shares in the divorce.

That's interesting. To hear the DUmmies tell the story you'd think she sold her stock and the day after the stock went public. This is luscious, even their October surprises are backfiring on them! The only real one is Libya, that they caused themselves. Unfortunately good people had to die (well, guess that's been the story of this entire administration) to illustrate their true incompetence but at least they'll be gone soon. Romney better have it fumigated and deloused & make sure the grandkids are up on all their vaccinations before moving in.

If you're interested in the subject you should read this article in the Weekly Standard, it has the the 52 page court opinion on the case President-to-be Romney testified in.  It details all of the stock transactions of the ex-wife, and which the judge found the ex to be full of **it'.  BTW, President Romney's testimony was in June 91, Staples went public in 1989 - Mitts testimony could not have influnced the ex to sell before the IPO.

Sounds like someone wasn't smart enough to not listen to them and wait for the IPO....

I don't know much about this kibd of stuff, but aren't shareholders notified WAY ahead of time when their company is going public?

Romney didn't even object to this being made public. Even if the MSM breathlessly reports this normal people don't care. Of course, they'll look foolish if they do, but it will give them a "squirrel" moment (is that racist now?) to detract from the drip, drip, drip of Libya. It's pretty obvious she chose to sell her stock instead of hang on to all or part of it. Payback's a bitch! Honestly, I can't believe they actually thought something like this would be a scandal. Wasn't even his damn divorce. Whether he was subpenaed or volunteered he simply provided testimony about the price of the stock at the time Sternberg extricated himself from this bitter, useless, screeching, harpy bitch! It's laughable they think this will resonate. It will go the way of binders, Big Bird & bayonets. I love, love, love our candidate! He's so squeaky clean they have NO dirt so they have to resort to crap like this.
