Log Cabin Republicans Endorse Romney

I have always admired the tenacity of the Log Cabin Republicans, who believed they could work from within the G.O.P. to change the party’s views on gay rights . Until they endorsed Mitt Romney for president.

The “qualified” endorsement contains a lot of hedges, including the concession that “if LGBT issues are a voter’s highest or only priority, then Governor Romney may not be that voter’s choice” (I should think not). But the bottom line is that this group of gay Republicans endorsed a candidate who supports denying gay men and lesbians equal rights.

Mr. Romney has endorsed a federal anti-marriage amendment, more than once. He supports the Defense of Marriage Act, which forbids the federal recognition of marriages involving partners of the same sex and permits the states to ignore marriages made in other states.

I'd imagine most gay folks don't understand it either.

And who is the last Democratic candidate the Log Cabin Republicans endorsed?

Gay or straight, a Republican is a Republican is a Republican.

If there were really anyone left in that organization, they just lost them

But I suspect their numbers are infinitesimal.

I have a number of gay friends who were republicans.

They left that party long ago.

And, hey, members of the Log Cabin Idiots and Morons Club, keep in mind that if given the chance, the Pukes and Baggers would fire your asses, kick you out of your homes and ship your sorry Apologist Asses, to a Gay Gitmo!

I would bet that most LCRs are wealthy and don't not

have their own best interest at heart. Just a "keep government out of my wallet" attitude.

I have a friend who is gay and is also one of the wealthiest people in this state. He's a die hard right winger.

Its all a charade put on by the GOP for votes.  I mean, how dumb do you have to be to keep voting against yourself?  I'm not talking about teabaggin' trailer trash.  That's a given.  There's structure and money behind this supposed conservative gay group.  It makes no sense... unless its nothing but a scam.

Back story: The former head of LCR was thrown off the ticket in Mass. by Mitt (and Ann) Rmoney

Jane "None Too" Swift had named her chief of staff, Patrick Guerriero, as her running mate. Once Rmoney Bigfooted her out of the race, she begged him to keep the openly gay Guerriero on the ticket. According to my inside dirt, he was agreeable to this -- but Queen Ann was not, fearing that any association with Teh Ghey would damage hubby's presidential prospects. Out went Guerriero, whose next gig was as head of LCR.

Did you think they would vote for Obama?

They are Republicans first.  Nothing else matters except being a Republican, not even if you see your brothers and sisters getting gay bashed on the street a block over.  Adherence to being a Republican is all that matters.

I can't imagine living that way, and violating my principles for the sake of acceptance by a political party.  I am far too proud of a lesbian to vote for a party that virulently hates me and all that I am.

Damn right; that's what counts.

By the way, wasn't there a Republican congressman from Wisconsin during the Clinton years, who was that way?

And Republicans didn't seem to have any problems with it.

Maybe the logcabin republicans figure they need to worry about saving the country first (aka kicking out the dems) before they worry about where they stick their sticks.

Plus I don't think that Romney is going to be buddying up to people who want to cut their heads off for sticking their sticks in the wrong hole.

How soon they forget, Romney's foreign policy adviser was a gay man who decided to quit because the whole liberal gay which hunt (for you DUmmies that is when your side outs gay republicans for spite) because it was causing a distraction (Romney didn't want him to resign). The ultimate in voting against your own interest

Like if your black and not voting for the Dems?

I don't remember which thread, but they were mocking voters for voting for the repubs based one issue, now they are mocking voters because they aren't voting based on just one issue.

I know several gay Republicans and on the other hand a know a few gay Democrats that only vote for the democrat party because of the gay issue.

Aah!! My old favorite standby from the libbies. Voting against your self interests. I've seen that almost as much as I've seen "The dems aren't getting their message out." More so this election since the dems got their message out and suffered for it in the 2010 election. Well dummie... let me 'splain it to you Lucy. When you have no job and the money is running low, I figure the last thing you are worried about is social issues and will vote accordingly. That is called voting for your self interests.

I'm guessing young gays are pretty much the same as young straights when it comes to wanting to earn a living, have a decent car, buy a house and maybe settle down. Kinda hard to do that when the economy is in the shitter. Social issues really don't matter to someone when their belly is touching their backbone and the repo man just showed up.

You know what, after posting in this thread it made me curious what Richard Grenell (the adviser I was talking about up thread) thought about this new bombshell that Obama knew it was a terrorist attack at least two hours after it happened (and I'm giving him the 2 hours). If you don't know what I'm talking about google the new state emails about Benghazi, the story broke a couple of hours ago.

Anyway, I follow him on twitter and so I went and looked. I looked at his twitter picture and realized that even our gay conservatives are better looking than theirs.

Surprise, surprise!

And who is the last Democratic candidate the Log Cabin Republicans endorsed?

Gay or straight, a Republican is a Republican is a Republican.

Then they would not be the log cabin republicans..............When is the last time Democrat Underground endorsed a republican candidate?
You see, I don't care you how feel.  I really don't.  More importantly, neither does anyone else.  Only about 200 people on a planet of 7 billion actually care about your feelings, and that's if you're lucky.  The sooner you grasp this lesson, the better off you will be.  And since almost no one gives a damn what you do, say, think, or feel, appealing to your feelings when you encounter differences of opinion is not only illogical, but useless.
