Had A Talk With My Former Pastor This Morning
Last edited Sat Oct 13, 2012, 03:11 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1)

I decided to do a phone reach out to my former Southern Baptist pastor who I had a lot of respect for until this morning.

We got talking about this years Presidential election and so I came through the backdoor to see who he was voting for. In 96 he voted for Clinton. So I asked him if his church still teaches that Mormons are a cult, he said yes, I asked are you still telling the parishioners not to invite them into your home to talk to thim. YES.

I then said are you voting for Obama this year...NO, Romney. I then said why are you voting counter to your spiritual beliefs and what you teach others. He asked what I meant.. I said why do you want a cultist running the country and why do you want to allow him to occupy the peoples home. Also how can you vote for a person who LIES every chance he finds it politically beneficial?

We all LIE he said, and I separate my spiritual values from my political values. I had to get away from this conversation quick as I felt like I was going to lose my breakfast so I asked one last question. I asked.... Which candidate best reflect the values of Jesus Christ, that's who I am voting for, I'll have to think about that he said.

I offered up the closing and hung up and wanted to scream my lungs out...my mouth hurts to much from oral surgery yesterday.

They are not voting their values they are voting against Obama... They are LIARS to themselves.

I decided to do a phone reach out to my former Southern Baptist pastor who I had a lot of respect for until this morning.

.... Which candidate best reflect the values of Jesus Christ, that's who I am voting for, I'll have to think about that he said.

Well, ther is charity...Which candidate donated a significant portion of their income to charity, again?
Then there is compassion...You DUmmies like to talk about praying behind closed doors.  Romney helps people and never mentions it.  Obama loudly claims to have helped people, though no one can find any he has helped.
Then there is there is humility...Obama doesn't do humble, except for bowing to Sheiks and Kings.  Romney seems to be about as humble as a politician could be expected.

That's just three DUmmie.  Obama loses on all counts.

There comes a time when even good men must run up the black flag of anarchy and slit throats. - H.L. Mencken

They really don't get it, any of it, do they?

One moment it's shouting about getting my rosaries off their ovaries, and then it's saying that one's being a bad Christian for voting for anybody who isn't a Christian. They don't get that we vote for candidates who have sound policies and are personally trustworthy - beyond that we don't much care whether they're Christian or not.

For one I'm shocked a DUmmies admitted openly he/she/it goes to church...and on top of it a Southern Baptist Church.

But I digress...

The take away I get from this semi-bouncy is that the Mormon Church is a "cult"...but then again the DUmmies view all churches as cults so I guess I'm not as surprised as I initially was.

And I also notice how this DUmmie equates voting for Romney as "voting agaisnt your own best interests".

Which when put in context with this preacher is totally opposite of how it should be.  Voting for Obama would be voting against the best interest of this man of God.

Let's review...Obama:

Repealed DADT came out in favor of gay marriage

Has an almost blood lust like support for abortion

Is forcing religious institutions to supply birth control and abortions for their employees in direct violation of the 1st Amendment and the views of 99.9% of Churches in the U.S.

So tell me again how voting for Romney...who is against what I mentioned above...is not in the best interest of this Baptist Minister?
The libs/dems of today are the Quislings of former years. The cowards who would vote a fraud into office in exchange for handouts from the devil.

What a bunch of BS. No pastor would say not to speak to other people of another religion. Even if they feel the person's religion is a cult. A true pastor would want you to use that time to witness to said person. Unless it's a fundamentalist Imam, then he would tell you to cut off his head.

Exactly! I'm Southern Baptist of the 4 Square persuasion. We think Mormons are just being led the wrong way in regards to their history. It is suspect to say the least. Once ya get past that though, they're not that different. We're taught to try and recruit them, not ridicule them. It's a little hard to do that if ya don't associate.

I noticed he stated former pastor.

I'm a polite atheist. I've worked for Mormons, with Mormons, and Mormons have worked for me. I can say that they are some of the most reliable, generous, and finest people I've ever met.

My wife is Southern Baptist, and both of us will be voting Romney/Ryan.

That's been my experience as well. I do not agree with the Mormon faith either but the people I know associated with it have been some I the warmest, most generous, and genuinely nice people I ever met.

I live in the buckle of the Bible belt.

There are still Mormons here.  No, I do not believe spiritually what they believe.

Yes, they are some of the friendliest people you could ever hope to meet.

Mormons knock on doors? I thought that was only Jahova Witnesses?

He is voting for the person who best portrays Jesus Christ? That is Romney. Obama is for Gay marriage, and abortions on demand

The moron is obviously a fake christian. He is probably only christian on Sunday and an ass the rest of he week. I am shock that he admitted going to church as well. But in all regards of the story, it is utter BS...

I have a BIL that has recently started going to a Mormon church. Some of our discussions can get quite agitated. However, he's one of the nicest guys on earth and I consider him my best friend.

Only a DUmmie would put religion before luv of your fellow man/woman.
