Republican tells why he is voting Obama: Letter to the Editor / Winston-Salem NC Journal today

Letter to the Editor in my paper this morning. I'm smiling

Gone too far

I am a Republican. The Republican Party nominated Mitt Romney to run for president. Some have signs in their yards and bumper stickers on their cars. Romney himself, in a more obscure portion of his now infamous candid remarks to donors, stated “...you and I, we spend our day with Republicans ... people who agree with us.”

Not quite. I accept as fact that 47 percent of Americans pay no federal-income taxes. I agree that this fact is a political issue, the consequences of which are worthy of debate. But Romney goes too far and his logic is callously flawed. He carelessly declares that those same 47 percent are unwilling to “take personal responsibility and care for their lives.” As a result, Romney’s dismissive rhetoric unapologetically demeans, among others, our poor or disabled brothers, fathers, neighbors and friends.

This is where I draw the line. If you demean my family and friends, expect a challenge with consequences. I sincerely hope that others feel the same.

If he ever had it, Mitt Romney lost my vote when he recklessly took aim at 47 percent of our people.

Ich bin ein 47-percenter.

J.K.

1. You are a fair and balanced voter who sees a wrong and wants to right it. You

must be more of a moderate. Thank you for doing the right thing. I know Obama isn't perfect but he does care for the 47% and 100% of the country.

Yeah he cares so much about the poor he wants to keep them poor and on assistance.

18. I've talked to at least 4 deep south life long Republicans who aren't voting party line...

I think there is a huge resentment out there for RMoney and it is going to play in the polls. These 4 individuals were virulently against Obama's "socialist agenda" but RMoney scares the beejeezus out of them and they won't vote for him. 2 of those three have told me they will be voting Obama, the other 2 said they either won't vote for a president or they will vote 3rd party.

Republicans are going to wake up to a cold truth on the 7th that they truly have sunk their own ship.

8. I know a couple of lifetime Republican men who supported GW Bush with gusto, but Romney...

Romney pisses both of them off, big time.

Both (separately) cited the "47%" video when talking about him, too. The other thing that gets to them is his tax rate. When he bragged about having paid 13% in taxes, it pissed these guys off BIG TIME. Apparently they had no idea how little tax men like Romney have to pay, even before deductions and tax shelters and other magic tricks.

17. There are more of us out here, then I ever knew

As a Republican, with all the attacks I have been subjected to by other Republicans, it warms my heart every time I hear I am not alone.

You are NOT a republican. It's funny how much the DUmp loves lies and the liars who tell the lies.

21. There's a huge group in the 47%

...That is never mentioned but they are essential to any civilization and the soul of a country: Artists!

Writers, musicians, poets, ballet dancers, actors, painters, documentary and independent film makers (not the big rich ones), designers etc. Even those who are now famous in these fields did not begin big and struggled for years at minimum wage jobs. Many will never be famous and make big bucks but still make a contribution in all the towns across America.

Seriously? If they are so damned important then they can work for what they have just like the rest of us.

I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

I love hearing the stories from people who claim to be republican but are voting for obama. They must really think that people are too stupid to know that they were never a republican in the first place.

No, they aren't.  They exist.  That's all there is.  They are essential for nothing.

It's an issue so devastating to RMoney that the Messiah failed to bring it up during the debate He slept through.

Pretty bad job there. Shit like this proves that decent and civilized people can easily play morally depraved moochers and not the other way around.

My persona in the local LTTEs, is a college student that voted for hope and change but am now very disgruntled that I don't have a job in my field after two years looking. I am living at home, paying my student loans, and working for just a bit more than minimum   I'm sure not blaming our bestest ever first black president and in no way voting for the big business guy, but am thinking why vote at all if the messiah didn't bring my socialist Utopia. A yet to be printed one was sent after the Mile-High-Massacre.  Now, I think that it is OK to vote for the guy that was so confident and had a plan that made sense because 0bama is only offering more of the same This is a three LTTE back story of over 4 months. There is no way Romney will get over 45% here but I try to tie it to our congress critter. Which BTW, there is a very slim chance we may just shake off the most liberal congressman. Yep more than Nanzi but just by a BCH. I'm not putting too much on this but....I am hoping for a change.

When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Bet it's easier to find people who can't figure out what possessed them to buy into the ridiculous "hope & change" bullshit that was as fake as those stupid Greek columns. People who are downright embarrassed at their own stupidity. I know I'd feel like an idiot considering how big of a mess he's made with everything he's touched. He's like the reverse Midas. They may have their little anecdotes, but the polls are now starting to reflect the REAL election. They have reputations to protect.

Those weren't fake Greek Columns.  Haven't you heard, Greece is hard up for money from following the same policies that Obama is pushing.

So many Jeb Eddys.

Uh huh.

There are five primitive chants to which I no longer pay attention, shutting them out, ignoring them, because all they do is chant without providing proof.

"Bush stole the election."

"The mess George Bush left us in."

"Racist."

"Romney's lies."

"former Republican now voting for 0bama."

They're just meaningless primitive chants, not statements worth any intellectual dissection.

When you tell a lie often enough it becomes perceived as truth.  (I forget who said that but someone probably a heck of a  lot smarter than me I am sure.)

Anyhow, The one I take most exception to allowing stand is how this mess was created.  Problem is it is just so difficult to explain to brain dead liberal arts majors how the confluence of liberal congresses coupled with social engineering along with a little malfeasance and corruption set the stage of the numerous banking and housing bubbles.

For eight years during the Bush administration the democratix spent their time obfuscating and talking down the economy at every turn.  The utter irony of a bill named after the great crook Dodd and fornicator Frank.  Then too there is Chuck U Shumer who would kick the whole downwand spiral off by causing a run on the Indy Mac bank.
