I said "hi" in return; but instead of just going on his way, he stopped and said, Are you staying out of trouble?" I just gave him a look I seem to have inherited from my mother, and he got all huffy before he went on down the street. BTW, my mother also taught me not to talk to strange men. Every mother worth her salt teaches her daughters that. Why should I be obliged to drop my guard just to avoid offending some guys never saw before, and won't see again? I don't see any reason myself.

But seriously, it's hard for me to say since I never start conversations with women I don't know. I have had occasions where I'm walking, and there is a woman walking in front of me, and she notices I'm behind her and does something like hold her bags tighter, or walks faster, etc, and it makes me feel bad. I want to say "don't worry, I'm not dangerous and I don't want you to feel afraid" but of course I worry that would make me sound like a psycho

I'm almost 100% certain it's okay to talk to strangers when you're an adult.  I do all the time.  Nobody has lured me into their van with free candy.

The fact a man even tried to pick up some DUchess tells me there is something wrong with him. Sure you can be so horny that a puff of wind will get a hard on but a DUchess? No there was some deep psychological problem with him.

Sounds like the guy had a really weird pick up line. 

She really would have been offended at one of my friends.  He had the Boomhower (King of the Hill) method down flat.  He'd talk to every woman in the bar for about one minute before asking if she'd like to have sex.  He reasoned that she had already made that determination anyway so, it was either go time or no time.  He got shot down a lot, but almost never failed to find a woman that would.

Why the **** does she care? She seems to be the one getting all offended and if some guy is offended by a rejection, so what. I don't get the big deal here. Geez. I went out to a bar one time with a friend. It was darker than crap in this bar and this guy came up to me and told me what beautiful eyes I had. I said, "how can you tell, I can't even see your eyes".  Lame  :whatever:

I'm not superficial at all, looks never mattered to me, I always enjoy a great conversation, but I hate arrogance, and maybe it's the alcohol talking, but some of these men in bars are horrible.

There was 1 time we were out and we were all dressed nice, this was the 80's so sequins and shoulder pads were the thing, I looked really nice in my sequined shirt, well this guy is drunk and he wants me to go home with him, I'm like you've got to be kidding me, well he gets all mad and stands up and starts yelling at some of us women, he gets to me and he goes "and you with the Elvis Presley shirt on, who do you think you are". No kiddin'! Hell, the way some women dress they are beggin' for the attention. I get in trouble all the time when I'm out with "Toots" and my eyes wander. I think I have a permanent bruise in my right side from her elbow!
