Auschwitz-Buchenwald is one place. not two different ones. Tweety should do his homework.
Advertisements [?]All my growing up life, in post war Germany, Auschwitz-Buchenwald was hyphenated and referred to as one extended concentration camp.
Tweety is on his show with a group of talking heads, and they are taking apart Senator Obama for having calling Auschwitz Buchenwald. Giving him grief over not knowing the details properly. Obama was referring to, I believe, an uncle who was there.
It is those blowhards who don't know. And here again they are creating a diversion from the real story at hand.
I could just scream.
We'll start with the easy one, Mira. The US did not liberate Auschwitz or Buchenwald. The did liberate Dachau, however.

3. Actually, you're probably thinking of Asuchwitz-Birkenau.
I'm willing to believe that Obama slipped up and said the wrong concentration camp. It doesn't negate the entire premise of a family member liberating one, as some are supposing
I happen to agree. That Barry's grandfather served in teh US Army during WWII is a great thing. That he passed none of that honor to his grandson? Typical.

7. It seems that Barack Obama made a mistake

Auschwitz-Birkenau was liberated by the Soviets. Buchenwald was liberated by American forces. Presumably, his (grand-)uncle or some other relative was with the American forces liberating Buchenwald (or maybe some other concentration camp).
It could be a similar mistake to thinking there was sniper fire in Bosnia.

9. OMG THIS IS HORRIBLE. THERE GOES THE ELECTION.
What I want to know is why this is even worth talking about when it turns out he just misnamed the camp his great uncle liberated.
Show me proof his granddad entered Dachau, or any other concentration camp as a liberator.
