DEVELOPING: Two U.S. Border Patrol agents were shot, one fatally, Tuesday morning in an area in south Arizona known as a major drug-smuggling corridor, authorities said.

The identities of the agents were not immediately released, but the shooting occurred at the Brian Terry Station near Naco, Ariz., which is just south of Tucson. The station was named after an agent who was killed in the line of duty in December 2010. The area is considered a remote part of the state and sources tell Fox News that the shooting occurred about 8 miles from the border.

The injured agent was airlifted to a hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

The search for the killer is being led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Cochise County Sheriff's Office.

Two weeks ago, the station was named after Brian Terry, who died in a shootout in December 2010 not far from Tuesday's shooting.

Two guns found at the scene were bought by a member of a gun-smuggling ring that was being monitored in the Fast and Furious investigation. Critics have knocked U.S. federal authorities for allowing informants to walk away from Phoenix-area gun shops with weapons, rather than immediately arresting suspects.

I had just logged on the computer and found this story.  Simply awful.  Not holding out hope that the Obama administration will do anything useful about it.  Then I couldn't help wonder if a gun or two he and Holder allowed to slip across the border had anything to do with this debacle.

The guns be traced to Fast and Furious? Watch Holder cover this up also.

I don't think he has the political clout to pull that one off this time, if the guns are traced to F/F.

Maybe not, but the administration can delay the investigation long enough to get past the election before the truth comes out.

After all of the attention F/F has received in the past few days?  I'm not so sure they could even keep a lid on it until after November.

And bury the results of such investigation.

After all that's gone on and the Univision show?  C'mon!  Where do you think they (Univision) were getting their intel?  I'll bet it started at Issa's door and went from there.  After the Univision report, barky and hold'em would be lucky if they could cover a ham sandwich at a F/F reunion.

Timing is everything and I think Issa/Grassley have been playing the long game since they couldn't get Bohner to do anything other than sit with one thumb in his mouth, the other in his ass, and wait for someone to yell "switch".

Even if the guns used in this recent killing of a USBP Agent are not tied to fast and furious, this administration needs to be held accountable for allowing a foreign force invade our borders and kill our Agents protecting us.

According to what I've heard, much of the documentation for the Univision exposé came from the Mexican version of a FOIA request to their federal government.

Kinda amazing that the "corrupt Mexican government" is more transparent than Dear Leader's regime.

Univision will be all over this, I have no doubt.  It's possible F&F has nothing to do with this particular case, BUT of course its shadow will fall over this hostile incident.  We have a war on our own southern border and I really feel horrible knowing my own government doesn't give anything but lip service to stopping the dangerous flow of drugs and illegals from Mexico.  I hope you are right, wasp, about Issa and Grassley playing the long game.

The FBI and the Cochise County Sheriff are now saying there is conclusive evidence that Agent Nick Ivie was killed by friendly fire and that there were no hostiles present at the time of the shooting.

Are we believing that?

I would have rather the local investigators come to that conclusion without the feds, but that wasn't going to happen.  Sad to say, that I trust very little that comes from this administration given their track record of lies and cover-ups.
