St. Augustine (Fountain of Youth pics)
« on: May 27, 2008, 10:59:18 AM »
I have alot of pictures from vacation.  Rather than pile them all in one thread, I'm gonna start a thread for each place we visited.

First is the Fountain of Youth.  Pretty interesting, the water from it tasted like shit.  Typical Florida sulfer-water.

Here we are in front of the fountain.

This is where Ponce De Leon first landed.

My wife, who could care less about history, was more impressed with the wildlife at the park.

A life size recreation of Ponce de Leon and the Indians at the Fountain.

Cool pics!
I can see November 2 from my house!!!

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Great photos, RY, especially of that peacock...amazing photo opportunity right there.  :)

St. Augustine is one of my favorite places to visit, due to it's historical value.     Last time I went, my family and I went to the fort, and attended a ghost tour (i'll try to dig up the photos from that trip when I get a chance).

If you want to worship an orange pile of garbage with a reckless disregard for everything, get on down to Arbys & try our loaded curly fries.

My cousin went to the fort a couple years ago, and got a picture of a soldier who wasn't standing there when she took the picture.

The albino peacock in one of the most extraordinary things I have ever seen.  It is quite a perplexing metaphor unto itself.  How can removing everything which makes something beautiful make it more beautiful?

Oh, no.  I was there 3 years ago with my wife and kids and you're giving the water coming out of that spring WAY to much credit for tasting good.

.

I haven't been there in 40 years, same diorama and it sounds like the spring hasn't flushed out that taste yet.  :rotf:
