Obama: Romney 'sure can afford' to pay more
By Kevin Bogardus and Amie Parnes - 09/22/12 07:40 PM ET

President Obama made a campaign stop on Saturday in Wisconsin, saying Mitt Romney "sure can afford" to pay more as part of his argument on tax policy.

At a Milwaukee rally, the president took several shots at the Republican presidential nominee and sought to energize his party’s supporters to help get out the vote in the crucial swing state.

So can you Mr. President...so can you.

Yep he could...if it's good for Mitt Romney to pay more it is better to set the example and begin the process of paying more yourself Mr. obama. You know the old saying Lead from the start not from behind. (or something like that)

I would love to compare Romney and Obama's charitable donations.  Somehow, I suspect that we would find that Obama could afford to pay more to charity  :whistling:

Romney 2011 taxes: Mitt gives more to charity than President Obama, Joe Biden

By JOSH GERSTEIN | 9/21/12 3:08 PM EDT

Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney was far more generous to charities than President Barack Obama or Vice President Joe Biden last year, both in dollar terms and as a percentage of income, tax return data Romney’s campaign released Friday indicate.

Romney and his wife, Ann, gave 29.4 percent of their income to charity in 2011, donating $4,020,772 out of the $13,696,951 they took in.

Obama and first lady Michelle Obama gave 21.8 percent of their income to charitable organizations last year, donating $172,130 out of the $789,674 they made.

Biden and his wife, Jill, gave 1.5 percent of their income away in 2011, with charitable donations totaling $5,540 out of $379,035.

Romney charitable giving has outpaced Obama’s chartible giving
August 25, 2012
By: Howard Portnoy

In a rare moment of candor in 2008, candidate Barack Obama famously let slip his fundamental belief—a tenet of socialism—that “when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody." In a sense, spreading the wealth around is something that Mitt Romney has experience doing.

Romney’s wealth sharing is not the government-mandated-shakedown variety that Obama promulgates on the campaign trail. Rather, the former Massachusetts governor has freely and generously given to charity. Keith Koffler at White House Dossier writes:

View slideshow: Tax returns of presidential candidates for selected years

[D]uring a comparable period before Obama and Romney were running for president, Romney’s giving probably was at least ten times Obama’s as a percentage of their incomes, and possibly much more.

Romney has stated that he has long given at least 10 percent of his earnings to his Mormon church. Assuming this is true—and he’d probably have to be classified as a pathological liar if it’s not—the Romneys’ giving has dwarfed that of the Obamas, whose charitable contributions only increased in direct proportion to President Obama’s political activity.

I would love to see Obama's charitable giving BEFORE he really started gearing up to run for president.

Clearly feeling a bit stung by our earlier note that according to their 2000-2004 tax returns, Barack and Michelle Obama gave less than 1% of their income to charity, Obama campaign spox Tommy Vietor writes to note that even though their 2007 tax return is not yet ready, the Obamas "gave $240,000 to charity in 2007."

Quote
Mitt Romney's 2010 tax return was released today, revealing made $2.98 million in charitable donations, out of his adjusted gross income of $21.6 million. That comes to about 14 percent of his adjusted gross income for the year.

Compare that to when Obama first ran for president in 2008. He released his 2006 tax return, which showed $60,307 in charitable donations out of an adjusted gross income of $983,826.

That comes to 6.1 percent of his gross adjusted income two years before he ran for president.

Obama is overwhelmingly generous compared to Vice President Joe Biden's charitable donations in 2006.

According to Biden's 2006 tax return, the couple gave $380 dollars to charity out of his $248,459 adjusted gross income; a percentage of 0.15.

As President, Obama has raised his charitable giving considerably. In 2010, the Obamas donated $245,075 to charities, or 14.2 percent of their adjusted gross income of $1.7 million.

The Bidens, however, gave 1.4 percent of their adjusted gross income to charity in 2010.

But when the President goes shopping, he still has to handle his own cash, as he showed on Saturday when he bought sausages from a Wisconsin store following a campaign stop in key swing state.

It's a shame that Obama's campaign has stiffed so many restaurants that they are now making him pay cash up front.  :-)

For the life of me I do not understand why Romney & Repubs are so damn stupid. They stay on the defense instead on the offense. How many times have you heard that Obama is a millionaire. None that I have heard of. That goes for loudmouths like Pisslosi and Reid. Romney needs to get rid of his Yankee/RINO handlers and go after Obama and Democrat on their taxes and charitable giving before he was elected. There is plenty of red meat there and I have not even touched on Biden and the cheapscape that he is in giving to charity.

Romney caved in to pressure from Obama and the media to release more tax returns. What an asinine thing to do. Romney should have stated I will release more if the O releases his college application and grades. The public has a right to know how dumb he really is and what country he put on those applications. I just don't get it why that is not done.
