24. The Center for Constitutional Rights has been working on the issue
 for quite some time
. They brought the original case which was heard before the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court ruled the people could NOT be kept at Guantanamo indefinitely, without representation, without charge. I don't know what we can do about this continuing outrage, since the ruling was handed down LAST SUMMER. Here's a link to the site, if anybody else is interested in keeping up with the latest news. This group works hard for human rights. They and the ACLU seem to be the biggest protectors of civil/human rights.

Constitutional Rights Attorneys, Media Challenge Secrecy of Manning Court Martial

May 24, 2012, New York – Today, the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) filed a petition requesting the Army Court of Criminal Appeals to order the Judge in the court martial of alleged Wikileaks leaker Private Bradley Manning to grant the public and press access to the government’s motion papers, the court’s own orders, and transcripts of proceedings, none of which have been made public to date. In addition, the petition challenges the fact that substantive legal matters in the court martial – including a pretrial publicity order – have been argued and decided in secret.

The petitioners include CCR itself and a diverse group of media figures: Glenn Greenwald, Amy Goodman of Democracy Now!, The Nation and its national security correspondent Jeremy Scahill, and Wikileaks and its publisher, Julian Assange. Also included are Kevin Gosztola, co-author of Truth and Consequences: The U.S. vs. Bradley Manning and civil liberties blogger covering the Manning court martial, and Chase Madar, author of The Passion of Bradley Manning and a contributing editor to The American Conservative.

“Public scrutiny plays a vital role in government accountability. Media access to the Manning trial proceedings and documents is critical for the transparency on which democratic government and faith in our justice system rests,” said Center for Constitutional Rights Legal Director Baher Azmy. “Portions of the hearings themselves have been open to a small number attorneys and press, but the Manning proceedings have been open in name only.”

Obviously DU has a long time love affair with the CCR.

So why bring this all up?

CCR was founded by William Kunstler who also defended the Weather Underground.

The CCR also wrote an amicus brief on behalf of Lynne Stewart after she was convicted of abetting the blind sheik in communicating with his followers.

Coincidentally, one of the named for the group suspected of killing Amb Stevens was the Omar Abdul Rahman Brigade.

Here's a pic of Lynne Stewart:

Here's another one from the same event, if you're curious:

Here's the poster advertising that event, if you're curious:

Another CCR client: Abu Sufian Ibrahim Ahmed Hamuda bin Qumu

Mr. Qumu is suspected of leading the attack on the US consulate in Libya.

As you can tell DU loves CCR but CCR managed to gain the release of the man that may have shifted 3 points to Romney because of Obama's incompetence on foreign policy.

The problem with leftists is they thrash at everything in every direction because everything seems to frustrate them. Notice they never blame themselves for their constant failures; they're better than you so it must be soimething else. Since they have no principles other than their own self-interest they create nothing positive, only chaos.

As DAT would say, They ride the tiger, ignoring the fact and warnings that it's a tiger.
According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."

Every time I see something that starts.."The Center For...", I stop.
Much the same as.."The Peoples..".
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

You got that right brother. ^5.

Other words to be aware of in NGO are "Democratic", "For Progress", "Justice", "Workers", and "Community". Whatever statements issued by these organizations will 99% of the time be anti-freedom, anti-liberty, in short anti-American.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Add "Common Sense" to the list.
