My WalMart non-bouncy bouncy for the DUmmies.
« on: September 20, 2012, 05:51:21 PM »
So today I was at WalMart (I know but it's down the street and convenient ) with Momma waiting in line at the return desk. We were returning a shower curtain liner she didn't like. The man at the counter was a large, later middle aged Black Gentleman. He turned from the counter and announced to us all that he hopes none of us planned on voting for "This food stamp President we have now". He went on to complain how this country is doomed and the only hope we have is to get rid of the food stamp President bent on destroying the country and forcing his health care plan on us to finish off the economy and make us all be on food stamps.

I commented that the only hope was new blood and an end to the current crop of professional politicians. He asked how I planned on ending them. I told him of my stated philosophy on politicians, kill them all and start over again. He laughed and asked me who I thought would do the killing, me? I laughed and told him we should pray and let God get them. He leaned in and asked me if I knew what Gods answer is to most requests? Handle it yourself, we need a revolution.

He walked away after that. Momma and I looked at each other and I said Damn, that was impressive! She looked at me with her eyes wide open and agreed.

No bushes, no applause, no conversions but a nice to see moment that tickled me half to death because of what happened.

Yep, it's a southern thing I guess. The term My Wife sounds like a possession.

:-) "Momma" that's what I call the wife....I sure as hell ain't going to call her, "The/my Old Lady".

Considering that my wife is six years and a few months younger than I, there's no way I'd call her 'old.' :-)

That must be a southern thing!  Here's a bad habit that people way up here do:  Refer to "my wife" as "the wife."  Sometimes, even just "she."   It's maddening, but I can't seem to break people of this.

Thanks for the non-bouncy bouncy!

I got you beat....mine is 14/15 years younger than me according to what time of the year you ask.

Nope it is a practice used around the world it seems.

My Boss was a Hindu born in India but raised in Kenya.  He had a very interesting life and had married a woman his family chose for him.   Seems he had never met the bride until the very day they married.  He emigrated to Canada and lived there when the family showed up with this strange woman.  He had just graduated from college and had a good job.  After a year or so he was transferred to a Canadian plant in the USA, both became citizens and settled down to raise a family.

The baby's came, one boy, one girl and as he had chosen to live in an area of other Hindi and commute 50 miles each way to work , he and wife had the task of raising the kids as both Americans and as Hindi.

About 10 years later his family finally came to visit -------They it seems were amazed that he called his wife Momma and she called him Daddy.  How he laughed as he recounted this story,   Seems that when the baby could talk they would be directed to go see Daddy or go see Mommy, through the years they both began to refer to each other as Daddy and Mommy and  the nick names stuck..

Now, to My wondering is why men often pick nick names for their wives like Babe or Honey, Sweatheart but seldom use their given name.

My thinking is that the male even after 40 years of marriage may call out the wrong name under stress.    So they call their wives and girlfriends a generic name.    They use their name when speaking to others but face to face it is ------Baby, or something non personal. Can't get in trouble with calling out the wrong name, unless you call a girlfriend Momma.

So, I was in the check out line at WAL-MART and when I got to the cashier, she asked if I had any purchases and I said, "No". It was a slow morning there with only one register open. So, when I came through her line the forth time with no purchases, she asked me in a very un-WAL-MART fashion, "What the hell are you doing here." I told her I waiting in line to be converted from a luke warm Obama supporting democrat to an extremely, sooper-dooper, stupid Obama supporter . She immediately grabbed a bottle of Heinz ketchup from  the station conveyor belt which she broke over my head. Then she screamed out so everyone could hear, "Not only have I just converted your sorry ass to a raging Tea Party member and super intelligent human being but I have baptised you in the blood of the tomato. Now get out of here before I have to roust the cops out of the bushes and sic 'em on you."

I had just seen the light...and numerous stars. I left WAL-MART a changed man.

Then when did our school departments decide Catchup was a vegetable serving ??

I have NEVER referred to either the current OR the former Mrs. Diesel as "babe", "sweetie", or the "old lady".

I called the former Mrs. Diesel the "little woman", the current love of my life is called my Angel, because she is!   :-)
