Just came home from church and we are furious!

We belong to a Catholic parish in a retirement community in Florida. While my husband was driving home, I read the church bulletin. An article in the bulletin started out beautifully but then became disgustingly political. The article said that because so many young people fell for the Hope and Change in 2008, in reality it was "Hype and Lies." You tasted "socialism" and have seen evil face to face. The article also called the 2008 election the "Great Lie."

I plan to write to the priest and tell him why we are leaving the church. Politics have no place in church whether it be from the pulpit or the bulletin. If the church, any church, wants to be political, then they should give up their tax exempt status.

I couldn't help but think that if the church is so against socialism, then the parishioners shouldn't be driving to Mass on the socialist roads. Also, because it is a retirement community, most of the people are on SS and Medicare. On Monday I plan to go to the local Obama campaign office and volunteer my services, something I should have done before now.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Sure, sure.

In case one's not aware, for some strange demographic reason, lapsed Catholics comprise a substantial number of primitives on Skins's island.  And they're the most venomous, the most violent, the most Hate-filled, of all the primitives.

A lapsed Presbyterian or a lapsed Baptist on Skins's island ain't nothing compared with a lapsed Catholic on Skins's island.

I dunno why this is, but there it is.

Many of them have a habit of allegedly having attended church one Sunday--even the Hate-filled Die alte Sau has done that before, although admittedly I've never seen the Hate-filled defrocked warped primitive do it--and found something to get righteously indignant about.

That the Michigan primitive was once a Catholic sounds credible, so I won't argue that.

But I really doubt she was in church this morning.  She probably just found a discarded church bulletin left on the table in a restaurant where she went to join other oldsters for breakfast, by chance finding something to reinforce her Hate of God and religion.

The campfire's a big one, the primitives all on fire.

Oh-hum.

Leaving the church over a bulletin?  Oh no, I was exposed to a political view I don't like  :panic:

If (and this is a huge if) there was something like that in a bulletin, then I would admit that it was probably inappropriate. However, this Dummie is supposedly an adult, and the adult thing to do would be to contact the priest, explain what you are upset about, and go back the next Sunday to see if it was fixed.

Or perhaps her husband goes and because she's a hard core abortion loving...war on women believing Dummy...she stays home and berates him as he goes out the door every Sunday.

Either she found it after he got home or he left it where she could purposely find it.

I briefly went to a Presbyterian church back in Texas where the minister would routinely speak out against us being in Afghanistan.

I always made sure I sat where he could see me...in my Class A uniform.  :fuelfire:

No, sorry to disagree, but I suspect they had that hard core of Hate, that "need" to Hate, before they even became aware of politics.

I imagine the Die alte Sau Hated even when still in the womb.

Some people are just born to Hate.

Yes, I agree--they had that hard core of Hate.  But, some outside influence prodded them to continue in that direction.

It's a damn wonder she didn't spell it "Cathylick Church".

I don't worry much about meeting other primitives in real life, but there ain't no way I'm ever going down to Kansas City without a gallon of Holy Water and an industrial-strength Crucifix, in case I happen by chance to run into the Die alte Sau.

There it is.

I am a lapsed Catholic.  My problems have absolutely nothing to do with faith in God.  It has everything to do with the church itself and church law.  God's law makes sense.

It is in fact at the bottom of page 9. They were all sending e-mails (vile, I'm sure), to the church, but as soon as I finish typing this, I am sending an e-mail of support.  We've got to fight the war on their turf, folks.

Oh FFS  :banghead:

I'm about 100% sure that the column in question was written by someone OTHER than the pastor. While the pastor might agree with the sentiment, he is not preaching it from the pulpit. Just because it's in the damn bulletin does not mean that ZOMG! PREACHING POLITICS! TAKE AWAY THE TAX EXEMPT STATUS!!!1111!!!

Their faith must not be that strong if a bulletin could run them away from God's word.
