Is It Just Me...?
« on: September 09, 2012, 12:05:25 AM »
Or are there others that can't help looking up info, going on youtube, etc every September since 2001? I feel weird doing it, but I als ofeel it's a rememberance. It brings up those old feelings everyone had back on that Tuesday in 2001. I was in 6th or 7th grade, and didn't wholly understand what had happened until I got home, and saw it on TV. I mean, I heard whispers in school of something real bad happening, but I didn't truly know, I don't think.

I believe I also watch for a couple other reasons: 1. In a weird way, I feel it's a way to bow my head, and mourn the victims, their families, friends, etc. 2. I wish to find more info. Of course I'm never going to know as much as say an FDNY member or an NYPD officer that was there, but for some reason, I yern to find out more, if tht makes sense. (Nobody here should mistake that for any 9/11 "troof" bullshit, because as many of you have heard me talk about them as I do, I hate them. HATE them! I wouldn't piss on them if THEY were on fire!)

Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone shared my views/sentiments.

I am still pissed about 9/11 My parents lived through Pearl Harbor and Mom didn't like it till the day she passed.  9/11 took Mom and Dad to tears to watch that was awful not only did they take the towers down they took my parents too. Dad used to work at the Pentagon.

Only connection I really have to it is that my dad worked on the Pentagon in the aftermath repainting, and such. That made me proud. (That was also where he had his heart attack, and the problems really, truly started kind of unbeknownst to us, but that's another matter)

Flight 93 though. That's the one part of it that made me REALLY proud to be an American. There are heroes like that everywhere in this country. Lying in wait until rreal shit goes down. Those people on 93 were real, honest to god, true to life heroes.

You're not the only one Rev.  I do the same thing.  My kids were too young 11 years ago...so I've sat them down and shown them what happened and why I get so emotional about it.

If we don't remind the younger generations...the left will win and the memory will fade.

I watched the whole thing unfold live on TV , from shortly after the beginning while it was still "an accident".

I won't watch any documentaries or re-enactments of that day and I am still really uncomfortable watching news clips (utube stuff/ etc) from the day.

Such black-hearted acts should never be forgotten or forgiven - but that doesn't mean they need to be revisited in all their horrific reality.

My "live" memories start with seeing the second plane hit and Jon Scott on FNC asking if it was a reply of the first plane...then the entire FNC studio going quiet as it sank in.

That's why I set the topic to sticky when you bumped it.

I'm with LC, I don't need to watch any more to remember what I saw.  I suppose if I had kids, I would think differently.  I won't forget, not ever.

We watch the Documentaries every year, and we've listened and watched youtubes throughout the years. We lost some people in our County, my relatives County (Monmouth) lost a lot of people, we have friends who are cops, they and firemen and people on the rescue squad went into NY and helped out for days. A few of the cops took personals pics and there were tons of anti-Bin Laden graffiti being done, never saw pics like that on any of the news shows, but those pics made a lot of us feel better when we saw them.

I am still pissed about 9/11 also. The plane going down in Shanksville (About an hour away from me) hit me hard, but watching those towers fall hit me the hardest. All those innocent people losing their lives because some islamic nut case felt that the infidels must die.

National Geographic has been showing all kinds of shows about it. I watch them, but don't really need to. That day is burnt into my brain forever. I can remember everything I did that day from what time I woke to when I get off the couch three days later because I was so shocked over what happen.

I am still sad, I am still upset, I am still pissed. I went to college with some students who lost family and friends on 9/11. They had a support group that I was part of. There is no way I could ever imagine what they were going through, but I tell you what, I cried with every one of them. God Bless them.

I am still filled with emotion and anger, but I tend to internalize it.  Thank you for this reminder.  I need to bring it out and all to life again for my grandchildren.

I still feel the anger.  Sometimes it pops to the surface and surprises me.  That's why I can't watch the movie about Flight 93 in its entirety.  I saw the last 20 minutes on TV a couple of years ago, and I felt overwhelmed with rage.  I knew it was only a movie, but I still wanted to reach through the TV screen and tear those hijackers apart with my bare hands.  I have the same reaction when I see photos of the Palestinian vermin celebrating on that day.  I can't wrap my mind around that kind of evil.

I remember that. Sickening! Some people thought it was a fake footage.

I woke up to it, my late father who was hard of hearing had the TV turned up. I walked out of my bedroom and watched the thing unfold thinking some jackass flew a private plane into the building like what had happened way back during WWII and the Empire State building. That time some pilot flew a B-25 into the side of the building while people were working. Not long after though the truth came out when plane #2 hit the other tower. I watched more of the broadcast and then went to my unit down the street . I when in and asked the guys there that were full time if they heard what happened and they said they knew something was going on but they didn't really have a handle on it. I told them they should go into the weight lifting room and turn on the TVs. So we went in and a short time later the Pentagon was hit. They hit the same area where my older brothers office was due to move back into.

I knew then that whatever was going on it was probably going to mean a war was coming and it was. The Flight 93 happened and planes were ordered down and the rest of the day watching the towers made me angry as well .I don't care to understand why all I know is thousands died and they were innocent. If I had the codes and the power most of the Middle East would still be glowing in the dark. You can't reason with that kind of evil and we shouldn't be. What we should do is getting the message across that for doing 9/11 you will pay for it in ways the couldn't begin to imagine. Not that we haven't tried but there are still some that didn't get the memo and it's up to us to make that delivery stick.

September 11 is a bitter sweet date for me. Not only because of the attacks on that day but also is the Birth date of My Father , a brother (both deceased) and a nephew.
It is said that branches draw their life from the vine. Each is separate yet all are one as they share one life giving stem . The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.

I watched the footage last year (10th anniversary) and cried my eyes out. It still breaks my heart to see the people leaning out of the tower windows and watching the towers fall. I will never forget the sick to my stomach feeling I got as I watched the towers fall on live TV. I also remember a feeling of "what's gonna happen next?". They let the kids out of school early...they also let us leave work early (to spend time with family). My son was only 11...he does not like watching the footage to this day. I have not watched any footage this year; I really don't think my heart can take it.
