Skimmer getting a "20-minute floor pass", a ludicrous concept, reminded me of a state fair decades ago.
One sideshow was a tent advertising an honest-to-god bearded lady. There was a huge painting showing the artist's impression of her.
She was a beautiful young lady, entirely nude, but with a beard carefully arranged so as to make the painting barely legal for public display.
For only a quarter, you could go in the tent for a closeup look at this feminine freak of nature.
It seemed impossible that she'd be able to keep the beard properly situated to avoid scandalous exposure, so it would be a well-invested quarter.
I paid my money, went into the tent on a narrow walkway between ropes, to find a very, very heavy middle-aged woman sitting on a folding chair.
She was wearing a one-piece bathing suit. She had some facial hair, but much more on the backs of her shoulders and her legs.
She was reading a magazine and never looked up.
I walked on out of the tent in a lot less than twenty minutes.
From my experience, I can advise Skimmer that when you get a ticket for a short stroll through a freak show, prepare to be disappointed.
