Thunderstorm
« on: September 03, 2012, 04:03:32 PM »
Yesterday a thunderstorm rolled through parts of Tucson. We got nary a drop, but a building at my brother-in-law's business (about 5 miles from here) had the roof blown off. Completely off. No damage to anything else besides the structure, but nothing was stored in it. But when you can see daylight through the buckled brick walls, it's time for it to come down.

I didn't have my camera!!!!!   :thatsright:

I lived in Phoenix for most of my life. Family in Tucson.
Monsoon season can be dramatic at times. Those micro-cells you just described can be devastating.

for those of you who don't know, Tucson is in the high desert and gets a lot more rain than Phoenix. As a result, a lot of springs exist and more critters can live there. Every now and then a mountain lion wanders into the city, and SWAT teams are activated. They only catch about half of the lions, the others just wander out again.
