Ron Paul Supporters Disrupt RNC
« on: August 28, 2012, 04:42:58 PM »
Of course NV casted 17 votes for Ron Paul and 5 for Romney.....   :thatsright: Maine gave Ron Paul 10 votes... AZ gave him 3 votes...

That would not happen if Nevada had a primary rather then a caucus!

Quote
Things just got a little awkward during the Republican National Convention, as Ron Paul supporters burst out into protest and shouted "point of order" in protesting the RNC's determination not to seat Paul delegates from Maine.

"Point of order! Seat them now! We've been robbed!" Paul supporters shouted.

The Paul supporters' chants were countered by Romney supporters chanting "U-S-A!"

RNC Chairman Reince Priebus, who looked rather bewildered throughout the entire ordeal, repeatedly asked for calm banging his gavel on the podium.

Paul delegates revolted on the floor afterward. Maine delegates walked out, chanting "As Maine goes, so goes the nation!"

Here's another point of order:

Your guy lost EVERY STATE in the primaries. Quit trying to undo the will of the voters.

I don't think he lost Nevada. I'm not sure. They rambled off some stuff about him winning Nevada.

But when you can only show up on a Saturday morning and have to spend half the day to listen to speeches before you can vote, and are locked out if you are a minute late. It makes it hard to vote.

I had to work that day. I know others that were told what time voting started but were not told they had to be there early...the turnout was very low. Mostly Paulbots.

The good news is.....you can't write in a name on election day. The candidate has to be on the ballot. So we won't have any spoiled votes by idiots writing in Ron Paul.

I was watching the roll call, it didn't look very disrupted.  The Paulistas were rowdy, but no serious impediment.

My brother is at the convention, and said yes, the PaulBots were obnoxious ("Romney cheats!" was one of their chants) and obscene, as their chanting became scatological.

Too bad: such misdirected energy!  I am no great fan of Romney by any means, but he won the nomination and not by cheating, and so I will support him.

Notice that the votes Paul got were from CAUCUS states for the most part?

Frankly, the caucus is an outdated idea that needs to be tossed aside.

From what I read and seen on the news the disruptions were early on in the day and some were even yesterday before the convention started.   :stoner:

Wasn't the caucus method the main way that Obama defeated Hillary?

Yeah the caucuses and superdelegates are what got Obama the nomination even though more people voted for Hillary.

I stand corrected  - this didn't happen during roll call, it happened in the chair's reporting session.
