Rock out with my **** out!
« on: August 27, 2012, 07:58:00 PM »
I'm in a mood, listening to old-school rock tonight. It's the first time I have buried myself in music since I got my hearing aids. I hear music in a way I haven't for ten years, or more.

I've missed it.

Here is Bruce Springsteen singing "Because the Night", live at the Winterland Ballroom. December 15, 1978; the Winterland was, arguably, his best live performance.

The Patti Smith Group also recorded "Because the Night", which was written by Springsteen. Patti Smith made the song her own, but The Boss continues to perform the original.

A second helping of The Boss, also from the Winterland; "Prove It All Night". The guitar lick at 3:00 is worth the price of admission.

BD, on this current tour, Springsteen is doing "Prove It All Night" with that beginning.  Nils Lofgren is absolutely masterful in the intro.

Also, while Springsteen was in the studio at one time of another in the late 70s, Patti Smith was in the same studio.  Somewhere along the line he suggested the song for her, she rewrote one line, and he gave her full co-songwriting credit.  I heard a live version, in person, in '99.  Good tune.
