He has to create the bullnose for the two winder stairs still. We got the stain yesterday at Sherwin Williams. They color matched the stain on our cabinets.

You know the lingo - bullnose, wainscoting, riser, tread - so yeah, you oughta know how he's gonna make the bullnose!  :-)

He will be attaching the bullnose to those steps. We had to have those made locally (he ordered the other ones online) and they are as thick as they make knotty alder at the local wood shop. They are 1/4" less thick than the treads so he needs to make them appear thicker with the bullnose. He also accounted for the thickness difference in the height of the stairs.

Got any plans for the darker floor or leaving as a contrast.
It is said that branches draw their life from the vine. Each is separate yet all are one as they share one life giving stem . The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.

The treads aren't stained yet. They will be stained dark like out kitchen cabinets. It goes really well with our wood floor.

Here are our cabinets, they are knotty alder just like the treads.  The floor is hickory.  We are using the same color stain for our treads.

You know if you really want to darken the place up you could paint the walls black  :fuelfire:

The newels and balusters will be white, there is going to be white wainscoting too. I hardly think it is dark.
