Suicide Watch For the Vermontese?

I doubt it, but ya never can tell.

We are in real danger of swerving so far to the right there's no coming back.

Yes, I believe that Mitt can win. Or steal the election. He has far more money than Obama. New voting restriction laws will pare down the dems electorate.

Yes, I think the repubs could control the legislative branch as well.

And I believe that Mitt would take far right positions on just about everything. Deregulation would be the order of the day. Foreign policy would be a disaster. We'd be in a war with Iran in the blink of an eye. China and Russia? Just listen to what he's said.

The Supreme Court would be a la Scalia.

Medicare would be dismantled.

Medicaid would be dismantled even faster.

Social Security privatized.

Abortion would go back to the states by 2016 and some states would indeed ban it in all cases but the life of the mother.

Education would be privatized.

Energy, Climate Change would both get the repuke treatment.

Oh, there's some things they couldn't get through, like constitutional amendments defining life as beginning at conception, but civil rights for GLBT folks would take a giant step backward.

You want to claim that Obama is really conservative? Go for it. I don't agree, but what would come down the pike in Mitt/Ryan admin with a repub controlled Congress isn't going to be conservative. It's going to draconian. Right wing on steroids.

1. Traditional conservatism looks "left-wing" to this present bunch of GOP'ers.

They are showing that they are willing to lie and steal to take the next election. My only hope is that the American people are not as dumb as they have been in the past. Big changes are ahead.

Yer darn tootin', you drugged up tool box. The American people are in fact NOT as dumb as they have been in the past. You'll see in November. :)

2. It's not just about the American electorate being dumb

It's about the ramifications of Citizens United. It's about voting restriction in states like PA. It's about the absolutely relentless lying by R/R about such issues as welfare. It's about racism.

Those are looming obstacles to the President's re-election.

That didn't take long.

When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

And the black at heart. But not those who are black, in protest of the current administration, like me.

Vermontese aren't the only ones on the suicide watch list.

I find it hard to believe that a state that beautiful can be that overrun by moonbats  :???:

Actually, it isn't. They are all concentrated in and around Burlington. The state has give or take 627 thousand people in it. The Burlington Metropolitan Area has a population of better than 200 thousand. So, nearly a third of the state's population is concentrated into a geographically tiny area, and those people are almost 100% Grade-A Moonbat.

Once one gets away from Burlington, one discovers the rest of Vermont is mostly populated by decent and civilized people.

It's about the ramifications of Citizens United.  In a round about way it is.  Corporations are finally allowed to level the playing field with the unions.  Of course it was fine when unions extorted money from workers to donate to Dems.

It's about voting restriction in states like PA.  It sucks knowing that so many illegal voters/double/triple voters won't be able to corrupt the vote as easily.

It's about the absolutely relentless lying by R/R about such issues as welfare.  Can you point out those lies or are they like the mythical lies that Fox News tells?

It's about racism.  Yes it is.  From the left.  Herman Cain was doing very well with conservative voters until the left attacked him dragging out women to tell lies about him.  The left has and always will be racist.

Scoobie and I would disagree with you. We've made two forays in VT this summer--while pretty, the ntire stat is overrun with hippies and pretentious flatlanders who pay way too much for stuff (think $8/lb for locally raised hamburger. I shit you not.)  And we were nowhere near Brattleboro either time...just Island Pond and Woodstock.

Vermont is a beautiful state, I liked the Queechee Gorge/Rutland area. Soft rolling hills and huge farmlands, with the Connecticut River provides irrigation and some industry on the NH/VT border.
