DU celebrates dependency, mocks personal effort

What is ironic is kpete, a person who enver had to do anything for the money she spends except spread her legs is the OP:

Mitt Romney: Honor Students Do It All Themselves: "I credit the kid, not the bus driver!"
In his town hall appearance in New Hampshire this morning, Mitt Romney celebrated the individual, who clearly needs no support system to succeed in RepublicanLand.

Speaking to a crowd of FreedomWorks devotees and other New Hampshire residents, he said this:

"We celebrate and recognize the success of each individual and acknowledge their success. We don't denigrate it, we don't divide Americans based on their level of success. We come together.

The other day, you know, I thought about a kid that works hard to get the honor roll. And she works real hard. I know that to get the honor roll she had to go on a school bus to get to school. But when she makes the honor roll, I credit the kid, not the bus driver!"

What idiots.

The brainwashing of DU and the democratic party is complete....
A liberal who is mugged by reality becomes conservative.

I for one, find the thought of doing it on your own and 'pulling yourself up by your bootstraps' a more attractive option than riding on the backs of other, more successful people. But that's just me.  I feel this speech was way less offensive than the 'you didn't build that ' speech our current president gave. And it  will be better recieved.

In CA there are no more buses (at least in the area I lived which was Fullerton), how do they explain the kids even make it to school let alone excel?

I used to walk to school. It was pretty flat though. There were roads I could have taken with sidewalks , but I took shortcuts through the woods and such.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

"1. Yeah, her parents, her teachers, the taxpayers in her district who pay the bills,

Including parents? That's strange. Ultra- liberals like the DUmmies normally believe that not only should parents play next to no role in their kids' education and have no say whatsoever in what their kids learn at school or how they learn it, they believe that teachers should have more of an impact on kids' general lives than their parents do (As the Hildebeest said, "It takes a village").
I'm surprised liberals haven't proposed that the honor roll system in general be abolished, on the grounds that it hurts the feelings of kids that don't make the honor roll. That would fit how they view every other aspect of society.

The point the morons never seem to get is it is WHAT you do with the helping hands along the way and not the fact that you had helping hands is the difference; that individual motivation and drive is what molds the clay into a work of art--the clay doesn't just form on its own because you are given it. Just look at many lottery winners for that lesson. Give 2 or 3 million to one person and they are broke in a few years; give it to another and they build a comfortable living for the rest of their lives. Why they can't get this basic concept that it's not the resources you are given, but what you do with them, they will never get it.

For you in dummie land, let's use Mitt's example again. There is another kid I would bet in that same school who has the EXACT same support system as this young lady who chooses instead to play video games at night and talk on the phone and play on facebook and is failing. Hmmm...what is the difference between the two I wonder? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..............................................

My son was always on the "A" honor roll or  "A-B" honor roll up through the eighth grade. High school(grades 9-12)  here doesn't have an honor roll :censored:....they did when I was a teenager.

::)  What an idiot.  It's either government transportation, or none at all.

Did they really go there? It was my gas and my vehicle(and my mother's sometimes) that got my kids to school over the last 18 months. My kids were open enrolled and not eligible for transportation in the district because those were not their 'home schools' even though we lived in the district. Somehow, my kids got to school and got home everyday over that 18 months. Our collective(as a family) motivation was to maintain stability for the kids in the excellent schools they had roots in. It motivated everyone to take one on the chin having that goal in mind. Bus drivers were not necessary.

That said, we are about to move into a home that is back in their 'home schools'. Hallelujah for that. There to was a motivation to be able to open my schedule up more to eventually accepting a promotion and having that bus access allowed more flexiblity. We also wanted a home again(in a condo temporarily). The point is, yes, I had help, but it was my own motivation to keep doing it the hard way. An adherence to my own goals and not the help we got. The help assisted in reaching those goals, but without the decision to do it and stick it out all the help in the world wouldn't have mattered.

Liberal thinking is a two-legged stool and magical thinking is one of the legs, the other is a combination of self-loating and misanthropy.  To understand it, you would have to be able to sit on that stool while juggling two elephants, an anvil and a fragmentation grenade, sans pin.

Have you ever noticed that if a person is well-off the lefties demand those people share.

And when someone improves the lefties say that person could never have done it on their own.

But if someone fails someone else is to blame.

Funny you should mention it. I've been seeing an ad on YouTube that mentioned that Claire McCaskill voted to fund research on the division of labor in ant colonies. I also remember a liberal blogger saying that even ant colonies have slackers.

7. So no one pointed out that

Without transportation to and from school this honor student would not have been able to excell in class or even take class?

When that student grows up and becomes financially successful, the normal bus driver would be satisfied knowing they did their job, and would smile humbly if thanked by the student.

The DUmmy bus driver would be pissed off, wonder why they weren't being paid as much as the former student, and demand he or she be punitively taxed and the person's salary redistributed to them.

That's the difference in normal people and DUmmies.

I was an okay student...but It was my fault, not my parents, teachers or the bloody bus driver , if I failed a test, just like if I did well, I did it and noone else did..It is up to a kid, to do their homework, study for tests, etc... Parents, teachers, and others can help, and support a student, but it is the student in the end who succeeds or fails by their own actions....

I agree fully. If you don't like where things are going in life it is much harder to 'take the road less travelled' in the words of Robert Frost, than to blame others if you don't succeed. While I may not have gotten exactly where I wanted to be in life, I did it on my own terms. And looking back on it I have a sense of accomplishment that anyone who believes in the nanny state will never know.  The point is, in the end it comes down to individual effort and responsibility. Things that it seems the DUi crowd (they seem to have taken waaaaaaaaay too many beer bongs) hate.

Did everyone that rode a bus to school make the honor roll ?

Does every smart person own and operate a successful business ?
It is said that branches draw their life from the vine. Each is separate yet all are one as they share one life giving stem . The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.
