I know it is "cheating" but both of us work long hours each day and hubby is allergic to wheat so this allows us to make gluten free bread that actually comes out pretty nice.

We have made 3 batches of regular bread and 3 batches of gluten free bread.

This morning we had french toast. It has been years since hubby has had fresh french toast.

They are pretty cool machines.

2. Why is it "cheating"? Sure...somebody might say you have to love the bread you're making, blah, blah, blah... and yeah a really good baker does better than a bread machine every time.

But, the process for bread making is mix, knead, rise, punch, rise, bake. Nothing magical about that and nothing a machine can't do. Every electric appliance we have could be considered "cheating" because our great-grandmothers didn't do it that way. (But I betcha they would have if they could have)

Excuse the rant-- good luck with the machine.

The only time I find bread machines to be cheating is when people buy "bread machine mix" at the supermarket, throw in water, and then crow about their baking prowess. Anybody who feeds one with flour, water, yeast and salt and lets the machine do the grunt work is doing just fine.

I've always had crappy kitchens and I've never had enough counter space for one, so my "bread machine" has been a Kitchen Aid mixer. My mother wanted one for about a week after she visited an auntie with one, until she got home and surveyed the counter space in her own kitchen.

That's the main drawback I can see to them, they eat counter space. But cheating? Nah.

Of course you realize it's very unlikely Pam has a bread machine.

This is another of her lies to brag to the DUmp that she has fancy things they can only dream of, unless they're willing to shoplift.

She's also trying to imply that her little gone-to-seed starter home on Greenbriar Lane in Wichita has lots of spare counter space.

Pam rarely makes a post that doesn't somehow try to rub the DUmpmonkeys' noses in their poverty.

It's good to see Pam back at the DUmp, because she can be really entertaining, but you have to remember she's a pathological liar.

She's a union teacher. She only works a 7 hour day.

The Wichita school system gotten booted out of the public school system to keep her from corrupting innocent minds with bullshit. She got moved to the prison system. She now teaches thugs how to read. The same people who graduated from the Wichita public school system without the ability to read an write.

As to her husband, why would he care about a bread machine one way or another? He's on a liquid diet......booze. Her daughter Holi left as soon as she could find a place to go. No bread for her. And finally there is the drunken husbands drinking buddy, the basement dweller. Last we heard of him, he was lying in a ditch on the side of the road after Pam booted him out. I'm sure he would eat her bread, if he could.

There's something about this paragraph that's sticking in my craw.  Warpy looking down on someone who buys a small box of mix.  But, she'll look on you kindly if you buy three separate ingredients.  What if you want a loaf of bread, but don't want a big bag of flour hanging around, possibly collecting bugs?  What the hell business is it of yours, Warpy?

My dad does this funny thing. He will find something he likes, thinks it is the greatest and at Christmas everyone gets one.  I have my $300 bread machine still in the box in the garage.  I should use it and make his Christmas present  :hyper:

I sent out Kindles as gifts two years ago. Everyone seemed to want one and I was the last to get one.

I like mine. Last I seen my mom's it was back in the box. My sister and her husband love theirs. Not sure about my spoiled nephews. They don't give me much feedback.  :censored:

My parents do that too.

I still have an unopened roller-food "grill". Not that I don't appreciate the gift, but its massive & I seldom have enough guests to justify roller-cooking up a bunch of hot dogs, Italian sausages, and/or taquitos.
