Niall Ferguson: HIT THE ROAD, BARACK
Aug 19, 2012 1:00 AM EDT

Quote
The president has broken his promises, and Romney-Ryan's path to prosperity is our only hope.

Quote
I was a good loser four years ago. “In the grand scheme of history,” I wrote the day after Barack Obama’s election as president, “four decades is not an especially long time.

Yet in that brief period America has gone from the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. to the apotheosis of Barack Obama. You would not be human if you failed to acknowledge this as a cause for great rejoicing.”

Despite having been—full disclosure—an adviser to John McCain, I acknowledged his opponent’s remarkable qualities: his soaring oratory, his cool, hard-to-ruffle temperament, and his near faultless campaign organization.

Yet the question confronting the country nearly four years later is not who was the better candidate four years ago. It is whether the winner has delivered on his promises. And the sad truth is that he has not.

Niall Ferguson on Why Barack Obama Needs to Go - Newsweek and The Daily Beast
"When you are dead, you don't know that you are dead.
It is difficult only for the others.

It is the same when you are stupid."

Paul Krugman isn't so happy about this, according to this DUmp post:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/10021161814

Many of the DUmmies are just trying to dismiss this out of hand, but I think Newsweak could be setting a story arc for another "comeback kid". It won't work this time.

Its pretty bad when Newsweek turns against the One.

I ordered flowers online and they gave me a free subscription. Total surprise, I never signed up for it.
Its like a pamphlet now. DU quality. Nads could work there. Full page photos of Rachel Madow. I toss it out with the junk mail.

Never thought I would see the day.

It's a feature, not a change of direction.  And I would still have grave reservations about the true positions of anyone who owned being a 'McCain advisor,' especially as opposed to claiming to have 'worked on the McCain-Palin campaign.'  Is he one of the people who thought cap-'n'-trade was a good idea?  Was he one of the inner circle leaking backstabbing rumors about Palin?  Something smells funny about his self-styled curriculum vitae.

It's Niall Ferguson - British historian who likes to talk about the "American Empire" (with predictions of its end).

A scot on another site I used to post at many many years ago used to post his work constantly.  Meh, I'll stick with VDH.

Allow me to 'clarify' my position on all of this:

"I Don't Give A Rats Behind About What's 'Inside' The Mag .. It's The Cover That Will Cause Liberal's Heads To Explode"!

Let's look at just some of Newsweeks past covers:
 :whistling:

Anyone see a recurring theme (bias) here? :???:

Why no, no, not at all.  :whistling:

But for providing that most excellent pictorial essay I feel you deserve a ^5.
